Question on pricing for Cloud-based review....
Hi. Can someone please advise as to the cost of the CLoud Editing/Review service for Flare 2018? I'm reading about the new Cloud Editing service in the 2018 "What's new" web page. I"m considering doing freelance tech writing from home. The cloud service would be quite slick for review...

Re: Flare 11 with Perforce - Performance Question
Hi Suzette. I'm wondering if you've received any help with Perforce integration outside of this thread. We are in a similar situation. Some sandbox testing of binding a project to Perforce had some unacceptable performance issues, not to mention odd behavior that locked up my computer several times....

Re: Is there a way to import multipe table styles at once?
Thanks Nita. You wrote the magic words: "Your Flare project will recognize their presence." I had figured that doing a creation-by-import would be required to properly add the table style files to the new project so as to preserve internal DB integrety, etc. Glad to see this copy paste sol...

Is there a way to import multipe table styles at once?
I'm trying to import multiple table styles from another project. Is there an easy way to do this? The current procedures seems to require importing the styles one-by-one.
Thanks.

Re: How to preserve leading spaces in code sample paste?
Thanks all for the comments.
I experimented with the pre tag per Nita's comments, and got the hang of it.
One thing I noticed: the pre-tags don't like to be grouped into a div by means of the Tab key. They're simply deleted. I'll file a bug.

How to preserve leading spaces in code sample paste?
Hi. I'd appreciate advice on how to preserve the indenting spaces when copying code samples from a text file to a Flare topic. My experience is that they disappear, and the result is that all lines in the target are flush left. At least one other thread from a while back has suggested copying the te...

When doing Word output, how to hide character codes...
Hi. I'm finding that when I do an output to a Word document, Flare seems to include the character codes as in this example: {color red}{b}Important: {/b}{/color}If .... Note that this "Important" text was defined in flare as part of a autonumber format to include the "Important" ...

Re: HTML doc opens on local device, but not on Web server
MadCap tech support fixed this one. Issue was that I accidentally checked the option "'Include server-side Help engine". (I don't publish to an IS Server.)

Issue with printing from Contributor, with variables...
Hi. I have an issue where variables in a document are not recognized in Contributor prints. For example, in the Contribute review GUI page, a sentence appears nicely like this (I've made variable values blue): This series of topics describes how to perform a new installation of Minerva 10 . It is in...

Issue with variables in search results. Plz assist.
All- I'm having an issue where when I perform a search in my tri-pane interface, variable names appear (in angle brackets) as shown in the examples below, instead of the expected variable values . Interestingly, the summary that appears below the title of each hit does show the values (in the exampl...

Re: HTML doc opens on local device, but not on Web server
All- Thanks for your comments.I took a look at in Chrome. One interesting thing: In all builds that are failing as described, the build includes a "Service" directory. Older builds (that don't include this directory) work fine. In some (but not all) cases, the Chrome Developer Tool reports...

HTML doc opens on local device, but not on Web server
Hi. New issue where HTML docs won't open correctly. Plz assist. Scenario: 1) I have a project that publishes to a HTML5 target in tri-pane format. (Windows 7, Flare 11). 2) The HTML docs are test-published to my company's linux based web server (Apache, I think). After publishing, when I go to bring...

How? - Nested divs where outer box resizes per the inner box
All- I'm attempting to implement a simple nested div setup such that when the inner box grows in height, the containing box does too. I'm experimenting with a set of divs to format notes, where: 1) The outer box contains a note icon on the top left, and 2) The inner box butts up against the right wa...

Re: Any best practices for project file management?
Thanks ChoccieMuffin. Your comments are useful indeed. I just counted about 2,500 files (htm, images, etc) in my main project (probably a small count compared to yours).I'll see what makes sense for me. Main issue is to be able to find files by browsing. And yes, I definitely understand that I need ...

Any best practices for project file management?
Hi. I'm wondering if anyone can offer best practices for file management, that is, the directory layout, of project. For example: Is it best to put all Images, Snippets, PageLayouts, etc, in the respective default Resources subdirectories? Should the directory structure beneath these Resources subdi...

False positives on undefined variables.
It looks like Analyzer is giving people a lot of erroneous results. My main complaint is that it's finding hundreds of hits in the Undefined Variables report, when the variables clearly are defined.
Does anyone have this particular problem too?

Re: Numbered lists show unexpected font. Plz assist....
Actually, I'm pretty sure this is a bug, so I filed one (Case 79366). ISSUE: When an auto-numbered paragraph is configured so that the position of the numbering is Outside Head or Outside Tail, then the font settings for the paragraph don't supersede the settings specified for the topic (html) style...

Quick question on formatting a topic title...
Hi. Should a topic title recieve an h1 format (possibly with a subclass), or should some other user-created p.TopicTitle format be used? (Or something else, even?)
Using h1 would seem to make hierarchical sense, but I'm not sure if this is a recommended approach.
Thanks!
-Kurt

Experts- I have a Flare project where most fonts are in a sans serif font (I'm using Calibri). However, I'm finding that while the font appears OK (like Calibri) in Flare's UI editor, when I build and view the HTML5 output, those numbered steps are in some serifed font Something seems to be overridi...

Are there good reasons to bind a paragraph to a list item?
Hi. After importing from RoboHelp, I see that my unordered lists have a paragraph tag bound to them, eg: <ul> <li class="Bullet_01"> <p>Text here.</p> </li> <li .... What are the benefits of this construction. That is, why not just define a li style with the desired paragraph/text attribut...
