You may want to hold off on making the switch to TFS from VSS, at least until whatever is causing the problems with Flare and SourceControl is fixed. We're currently using TFS and Flare 6 and are experiencing a number of the same problems being mentioned with Flare and VSS.

Re: Paragraphs generating in table rows in Flare v5
Based on a discussion I had with MadCap support some time ago, they use the tables for formatting. I think it's also related to your use of Auto-numbering, in that when you use auto-numbering they use the tables for formatting in the output. Here's the actual quote from the support e-mail.

Re: Agile development and Flare
Some drawbacks to agile (from my experience):
- Less time to plan, since you are pumping out (smallish) docs every couple of weeks.
- "Big picture" considerations in docs are harder, since any typical big picture feature will come from several disparate efforts, rather than all at once.
I'd be ...

Insert variable in variable
Is it possible to use a variable in the definition of another variable?
For example:
Prod_var = ABC
Guide_var = [Prod_var] User Guide
For example:
Prod_var = ABC
Guide_var = [Prod_var] User Guide

Agile development and Flare
I was wondering if anyone is using Flare for documentation in an Agile development environment and what is the experience like? My company is looking at moving towards the Agile development model and I'm trying to get a handle on what to expect as well as try to get a jump start on some best ...

Re: Style won't apply
You're welcome. If you don't mind me asking, were you switching back and forth between the text and xml editors? I ask because I recently came across an issue where doing that could lead to the same behaviour you experienced. Basically, if you're working in the xml editor then click the Open in Text ...

Try closing and re-opening the topic, or try opening the Styles window (F12) and using that to apply styles.

Re: Webdings tick/checkmark+ballot x/x mark - quick characters
Well it appears that there is an issue with support of Wingdings, Webdings, Dingbats and symbol fonts in general. It is by design and has to do with Unicode support. Apparently we should be using the appropriate Unicode character and not doing things like this:
<span style="font-family: Webdings ...

But isn't there an issue with the Wingdings font being displayed in Firefox?

Re: How to align paragraph numbers with bottom and not with top
My bad. I know that she's using the standard lists and not the autonumber format. I was simply suggesting that it might be worth finding out if using the autonumber technique would work. If it doesn't, so be it.
This does raise another question in my mind though. If one is using the standard lists ...

Re: How to align paragraph numbers with bottom and not with top
Let's say you create the span class Auto_num and you set all the relevant properties (including the vertical-align).
Next you go to the <li> tag and set the mc-auto-number class property to Auto_num.

Re: How to align paragraph numbers with bottom and not with top
The mc-auto-number class, format, offest, and position properties are not set at all for the <li>, <ol>, or <ul> tags. ( Should they be? Their not being set hasn't seemed to be a problem otherwise.) There are no corresponding span tags. I've not imported anything from Frame, but am creating new ...

Re: How to align paragraph numbers with bottom and not with top
I've been able to get this to work. You need to set the vertical-align property of the auto-number class of your style.
An example in my case is for ordered lists (procedures). I use the following styles:
(p.s1_Step_1) for the first step, and
(p.s1_Step_next) for subsequent steps.
