Re: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

does this help?

http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=14237

No, it doesn't. My workaround that I posted is the only thing that seems to work.

Interestingly, when this error last occurred for me last week, I opened the project in Flare 7.2 to see if it was a Flare 8 issue. I ...

Re: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

I see this error frequently also, but in generating PDF output. It is most annoying in the fact I don't know which project file is causing the issue.

Since I mostly develop small PDF output, I generate the target frequently. My workaround when this issue comes up is to remove the last edited topic ...

Double-clicking TOC topic open Properties dialog

I'm using Flare 7.2 and just encountered an issue. I used to be able to double-click a topic from the TOC pane and the topic would open in the XML Editor. Now the Properties dialog is appearing each time instead. This happens across projects. I can still right-click and open the topics, but I want ...

I used the XML editor in Print Layout mode. With my cursor in the text of a paragraph in a list, I set the paragraph break in Format>Paragraph. However, your idea of a CSS change suits me better. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Table page break in PDF output

Roger, your first solution looks like a way to avoid tables breaking inside a row - I'm not sure how that would prevent the table from being pushed off the page? maybe I've misunderstood what you're doing there.

Yes, my first solution does deal with rows breaking across pages, but if you have ...

Re: Table page break in PDF output

Has anyone found a solution to this? My pdf output looks crap because of this, & the only workaround I can think of is to break the table up into chunks that will all fit inside 1 page. This obviously will look crap in the web output. I may have to create duplicate topics, one for print & one for ...

SharePoint connection issue when connecting to a sub-folder

I am unable to view any SharePoint files in Flare 7.1 via the SharePoint Explorer. This is identical to a bug that I previously reported and was reported fixed in 7.1. I have full SharePoint access to add, create, delete, check out and check in files in the libraries to which I am. The library sub ...

Re: Index page sequences not correct in Word output

Hi Lisa. Thanks for replying. Yes, I have the correct sections/section breaks applied in the TOC. I'm getting the Index in the Word output just fine except the page sequences. I also tested this in Flare 6, so apparently this issue has been around for awhile. I'm just wondering if this is a known ...

Index page sequences not correct in Word output

In Flare 7, index page sequences in Word output are appearing as consecutive pages rather than page ranges. For example: 9, 10, 11 instead of 9-11. The online help says that Flare automatically creates page ranges. This sounds like a bug, but wanted to check here before I report it. Is there a trick ...

Re: Hyphenation Question

Thanks Andrew and Lisa. I've tried what Andrew said, but it won't work in this text box. Lisa, I looked at the other postings. Yes, it is the same issue. I will enter a bug report. I am still on v. 5. It looks as this was not fixed in v. 6.

Hyphenation Question

I have a page layout for a cover page in printed output. On the page is a Header text box in which I have a variable for the product name. In one project, the product name is long and it hyphenates and wraps within this text box. I expect wrapping but I do not want it to hyphenate.

I have tried ...

Re: Capture Batch Jobs Output Error

Thanks to Madcap's good technical support for helping me solve this problem. I was missing two steps:

In the Format tab, I selected the PNG Format. Color depth (default), and Print DPI 96.
In the Basic tab I selected the output folder to be the same directory as the directory in my project ...

Capture Batch Jobs Output Error

I imported a Word document to begin a Flare 5.0.1 project. I created a Capture 5.0.0 profile to just add a 1px black border around my graphics. I created a batch job that scans the project's images directory. My images are all PNG files.

No matter how I set up the batch job, Capture wants to output ...

Have you tried pasting them into Notepad before pasting them into the callout? I'm just guessing you may be copying and pasting a style with the special character.

Re: Best way to insert screenshots in Flare

I've wrestled around with using Fullshot, SnagIt, and print-screen to get the screenshots, and resizing and modifying with Fireworks, Photoshop, and Flare, etc.... any way you do it, it seems to be quite an arduous process...

I recommend you use Capture if you have it since it is fully integrated ...

Word Target Does Not Render Variable Info. in Header Graphic

I'm using Flare 5.0.1, Capture 5.0.0, Word 2007, Windows XP.

I have a header graphic in the Master Pages, which are used by my Word target. The graphic uses variables, which were inserted with Capture. When I view the graphic in both Flare and in Capture, the variable information appears correctly ...
