Yes, I found the following workaround:
1. Create a normal set of page layouts with a right (odd) page having the chapter title page layout, and your normal right/left body pages.
2. Copy this page layout set, and then create a mirror image of the chapter title page, but on a left (even) page, also ...

Re: Left hand First page layouts?
I'm generating to PDF, and then saving that as a Postscript file. I then run it through Distiller to exact settings for the book printer.

Re: Left hand First page layouts?
Yes, I am talking about having the chapter number (Chapter xx), followed immediately by body text, appearing on the left-hand page.
However, I also noted a number of books with chapters that start on the right page (say, a Chapter Title and intro), but its content begins on the back of that page ...

Re: Left hand First page layouts?
I don't really have a requirement for L or R chapter pages. It is a matter of cost savings, aesthetics, and common practice for fiction. Many novels have chapters that start on L pages. I also thumbed through a few reference books on my tech writing shelf--books from O'Reilly, Wiley, Hungry Minds ...

Re: Left hand First page layouts?
Hmmmm... now that is an interesting workaround that might actually work...
I'll give that a try and get back to you.

Re: Left hand First page layouts?
You set up a page layout that has the following page types: First, Left, Right, Empty (last one is optional). You set up the First page layout the way you want, including without headers and footers and with a smaller body frame. In your TOC, where you want the chapter to start, you specify that ...

Re: Left hand First page layouts?
Hmmmm... well, Kwag, that is a possible answer, but I'm not sure it is worth all of the additional effort.
In short, I was hoping Flare had a simple solution to address this problem. If not, then perhaps I need to submit an enhancement request. What I am trying to do here is not all that uncommon ...

Re: Left hand First page layouts?
Steve, thanks for your suggestion. But I do want a different looking first page for each chapter: It has a chapter title, starts about 1/3 of the way down the page, and has no headers or footers, where all of the other body pages will have these elements. While I am grateful for the idea, I don't ...

Left hand First page layouts?
I'm using Flare as a single-source tool for my small publishing company for a novel I'm putting out. Currently, the book has 0.75" L and R margins, so the text blocks, headers, and footers are all perfectly centered. Th book looks fine, but is just a tad crowded at the inner margins near the binding ...

Can you put auto-numbers in generated TOC styles?
The book I'm working on has Volumes and Chapters.
I've structured it so each Volume has an h1 style.
The Volume pages are structured like this:
<h4>Book I</h4>
<h1>Title</h1>
On the page, these two are blocks are stacked and separated by borders, like so:

Re: Internal error: Index was out of range
I resolved it by submitting a help ticket, which MadCap promptly resolved. I'll pass on my lessons for other users:

Re: Internal error: Index was out of range
Andrew,
It only seems to be happening with one project.
At least, this is the first time I've seen it.
I happens every time I compile this project.

Internal error: Index was out of range
I received the following error message when building a print (PDF) document.
Any ideas on what might be causing it? The full text reads:
"Internal error: Index was out of range. Must be non-native and less than the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index."
Not sure what this means. The ...

Re: Can you use Distiller to generate PDF output?
OK, wouldn't you know it, withing seconds of posting, the answer came to me.
For those who care:
1. Export from Flare as PDF.
2. In Acrobat, saved Flare's PDF output as a Postscript (.ps) file.
3. In Distiller, process the .ps file to the desired settings.

Can you use Distiller to generate Flare's PDF output?
I'd like to use Flare as a single-source tool for creating books that are to be printed by a print-on-demand (POD) service bureau. The service requires that PDFs have a PDF/X-1a:2001 preset that is generated from Distiller as the PDF Producer.

Internal error: Stack Empty
I'm running Flare v.5.01. My target is PDF.
I received the following error: "Internal error: Stack empty."
Since this error doesn't point me to a problem topic, and I can't even save the log file, this error message doesn't help me.
I tried rebooting, thinking it might be memory issues.

Unwanted breaks in merged table rows
I have a rather large table that uses merged rows (please see attached screen shot).
This was a FrameMaker file that I imported into Flare 5.01. My output is PDF.
A similar table is working fine.
There is ample room on the previous page to accommodate the merged cells, but the table keeps breaking ...
