That's the thing...if I don't know what it is, I don't know if I use it or not. That's why I was hoping madcap folks or others could tell me what it originally did.

custom.modernizr.js no longer included in HTML5 output
Hi,
When I was loading my HTML5 output files into Surround, I noticed a script file called custom.modernizr.js was missing from my check in of files. I rebuilt my help and that file is no longer generated. 1) What is the purpose of that script? Does it have anything to do with customizing the ...

Re: System.IO.IOException displays when browsing for img/fil
OMG, this is such a show stopper. I realize I can't do anything that involves opening a dialog box. Another piece of information...the short explanation associated with this error is as follows:
"The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open."

System.IO.IOException displays when browsing for img/files
When I browse for images or files in Flare 2019 I am getting the above error in the Madcap Flare encountered a problem window. In addition, I have to CTRL ALT DLT Flare and re-open because it won't let me just send a report and then move on. It keeps cycling back to the error window. I have entered ...

Re: Sunset Template: setting to collapse TOC entries
Thank you...I didn't know that about the menu proxy. I guess I would have to remove the menu proxy from the Master Page and turn on Side Nav. I was wondering why Sunset has a Top Nav skin at all because it doesn't use any menu items in that space. So much to learn.

Sunset Template: setting to collapse TOC entries
Using the demo version of Flare 2018 (until I get approval to purchase). I am currently using Version 10 so am waaay behind on knowing new features.

HTML5 ToC missing content in some browsers
I generate HTML5 using Flare V10.
When I open the Help window from the application it's associated with and look at the ToC, some of the sub-folders of a particular folder do not display in the ToC. The topics of these missing sub-folders are present in the Help system (I can search for them and ...

Re: Modify main entry file in Webhelp project
Thanks for the info. Two questions:
The script is a JScript, not a JavaScript. Can I insert a JScript in the HTML5 skin?
Isn't this custom JavaScript associated with a custom toolbar button? In this case I'm not adding a custom toolbar button, I'm just adding a script (which actually runs the ...

When this main entry file is directly opened in Windows Explorer, the generated help opens in a browser window.

Saving File List or Primary ToC to Word or Excel
Is there a way to save either the File List from a project OR the primary ToC to a Word or Excel document? I want to use it as a checklist when testing each topic. I tried running a report, only box checked was ToC>ToC Primary Target, but that report also lists the links to each topic and the ...

Global Project Linking Stylesheet
I'm using Flare 10. I'm using Global Project Linking to import 2 topics from Project B into Project A. I imported the .css from Project B also into Project A, which unfortunately uses different styles. In both projects the .css is assigned at the Project Level (not topic level). I'm confused about ...

Translation of compiled Webhelp
I generate webhelp for a software product using Flare 8. Is it possible for the customer to use the generated webhelp output files (not ...

Re: Proprietary MC codes slow webhelp performance?
Thanks for the info folks. I thought their request seemed odd, but I am not very HTML code savy (that's why I use a help-authoring software package)...if those codes were causing such a problem, why would Flare continue to include them?

Proprietary MC codes slow webhelp performance?
Using Flare 7 I generated a very small webhelp project with graphics (almost exclusively captures of buttons clicked during use of UI). The help system was taking too long to open (5 seconds) and to jump from hyperlinks (5 seconds). The developers provided the following suggestion:

Re: Removing Page Break
Regarding Page Break Before in Heading stylesheet...good point, yes I do. Thank you, I can defintely work with that. But all the topics use the same heading style (H1), so I guess I should ask why Page Break Before is not working for those topics in the subbook?

getting a topic from project A to display in project B
I am using Flare 5 to create Webhelp and PDFs. Haven't found what I'm looking for in Flare Help (e.g., the topic Links to External Files doesn ...

Go back from link
I'm using Flare 5. In Adobe Acrobat and in Reader, I believe the user is supposed to press Ctrl + left arrow to return from a jump to the page the user jumped from. In testing my PDF, when I do that I either go nowhere or sometimes I go to the first page of the PDF. I am using the left arrow button ...

Setting left margin in table
I am a new user of Flare 5 and because I was a RH user, I don't really have a grasp on the inner workings of stylesheets...I'm just kind of stumbling through adding and revising them. So for instance, I can't figure out how to set the left and right margin of a table. If I create the table using ...

Re: .CHM file size increased dramatically
Thanks to Andrew and ChoccieMuffin. I suspected the Help was including topics that are not in the ToC...thanks for confirming. Seems like double work to have to conditionally tag topics to exclude them from Help...I thought that was one of the purposes of the ToC. This info will help me think about ...

Re: .CHM file size increased dramatically
Some new info. Since the last time I ran the HTML Help I added a bunch of new topics and graphics to the project. They are not included in my ToC, so they aren't included in my HTML Help, but I wonder if they are being included in the .CHM for some reason? When the Help is generating I see them ...
