What about using the recognize text feature in Acrobat to save having to generate "messy" Word documents?

Re: Differences between Flare v11 and v12

The best way I have found is to use offset numbers that are outside the head and add a corresponding margin. h1 { font-weight: bold; font-style: normal; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 18pt; font-size: 18pt; font-family: Arial; mc-hyphenate: never; margin-left: 35px; mc-auto-number-position: outside-h...

Re: Chapter style problems

Hi Aron To obtain the layout I think you want, your page layout (*.flpgl) file will require four page types; First right, Right, Left, and Empty. To assign the layout to your chapters, you need to open your TOC (*.fltoc) file, right-click the topic entry where the chapter should begin, and select Pr...

Re: Consuming pages in page layout

Hi Ramon
you need to assign page layouts and page types in your TOC (fltoc) file. Right-click the topic in the TOC file and select Properties > Printed Output and select Page Layout and Page Type.

Hi Fiona

OK, I understand what you are trying to do, I don't think this is possible, we have the same issue when mixing Asian and European characters in headings.

Re: Embedding Unicode font in pdf and html5

I can't get it to work in the ToC either in Flare or in the output What exactly is happening? Is your TOC being created but using the wrong font or is it not displaying at all? For the PDF, have you checked the TOC1-9 style settings? For HTML5 output have you set the navigation item font to your des...

Re: Page layout - decoration with a condition tag

Hi Shawn I use this feature all the time and have never had a problem. You can edit the page layout in the internal editor if you want to apply conditions manually. Or am I missing something? You mention flagging conditions from the TOC? <xhtml:p xhtml:class="ValDoc" MadCap:conditions=&quo...

you can add some space before the number using the page number width setting for each pTOC style Properties > Leader > Page Number Width in the simplified view. There's probably a more elegant way to do it...

Re: Translation of autonumbered items?

Something else you might want to consider (as long as your number of languages remains relatively manageable) is using mediums. This feature lets you define separate styles for a given element. @media en h1 { mc-auto-number-format: 'CH:LESSON {chapnum} '; } @media de h1 { mc-auto-number-format: 'CH:...

Not quite sure what you want to do here but you can capitalize a variable (or any text for that matter) by applying the capitalize text transformation (select the variable and Home > Font > Advanced > Transform > Capitalize.) <p>The <MadCap:variable name="ProjectVariables.SerialNumberLocation&q...

Re: Floating text outside a frame

You can choose to float the text box outside, or to the left or right of the Frame in the Text Box Properties Dialog (right-click the text box div and select TextBox) . I had a quick look and this seems to work for PDFs but not Word Outputs.

Re: How to associate a p.TOC class with a H1 class

Hi There I believe you will have to create a paragraph style (e.g. p.h1_purple), associate a "spare" mc-heading-Level value to it, and Format the respective p.TOCx style. You might want to think about adding a page break before as well to mirror "classic" h1 behavior. p.h1_purple...

Re: Strange behavior of AutoNumbers in the TOC

It sounds like a Problem with mediums. You should probably check out the Flare help on this topic. On a more practical note, you should check the Stylesheet Settings that your target (.fltar) file is using. Open the target file and check the Setting General > Master Stylesheet. It should be set to t...

Re: Strange behavior of AutoNumbers in the TOC

The only things that strike me are the unnecessary margin entries (if you use margin it sets the same value for top, bottom, left, and right) and that you have defined an mc-auto-number-class and mc-heading-Format (=TOC). Can you try commenting out These Parameters and see if makes a difference?

As far as I know the entries in the Table of Contents are controlled by the p.TOC1, p.TOC2 etc. styles. Could you post your h1 and h2 and p.TOC1 and p.TOC2 css code to see if there is anything strange there causing this behavior?

Try adding a global Counter to your auto-number Format?

Do your chapters have a different first page from the rest of the right pages? Do you have a 'normal' right page layout? Maybe you could try Setting your chapter break page layouts to Default instead of first right?

Re: Target Failing to Inject Empty Pages Correctly

Random thoughts: Does your layout file have a page with type "Empty" as well as "Right" and "Left"? I've never used the Empty Left and Empty Right page types. I generally copy the left page and delete the Body Content Frame. Are your Chapter breaks set as Chapter breaks...
