Hi guys,
Just wondering, how would I create a printed documentation target that has 2 "title" pages at the beginning, before the TOC? Just put 2 Title pages in the Page Layout, or do I need to put a "First" and "Title"?

Re: Build log with a bunch of mysterious "10001" errors
Ah, there we go, I discovered at least one source of this issue: while the file noted in the log did not point to the location indicated on the right, an imported Snippet, however, did! But the Robohelp import script failed to adjust links within snippets, so in this case the snippet was calling &qu...

Re: Build log with a bunch of mysterious "10001" errors
Actually, a linked file wouldn't be that crazy an idea, considering those files (on the right) don't actually exist... well one of them did in the past and it was renamed at one point, so maybe that's a clue (though, we're talking about an imported project, so how would it know?). I'll do a global s...

Build log with a bunch of mysterious "10001" errors
Hey there, So I'm trying out Flare 11 and I imported a RoboHelp project into it (my goal is to convince my boss to let me go from RH11 to Flare 11, there's only that 1 project that's not in Flare 7!). When building the output (html5, Tripane), I'm getting a series of errors I'm not sure are even val...

Excluding a cover page from TOC included in another TOC
Hello! I need to create a few "subset" outputs from a main project, for example an "Installation and Activation Guide" that in reality is also included as a chapter in my "main" user guide. So I created a new TOC just for that chapter and created a target for it, and al...

Re: Creating "Branded" HTML5 output
I certainly don't expect I'll ever need to pay someone else to design a template, we have all the knowledge in-house to create any website or design from scratch. However, in this regards Robohelp does seem to offer more power in template generation. In fact, their "skin" is a folder conta...

Re: Creating "Branded" HTML5 output
So after some tinkering around: OMG direct import of my robohelp project in like 30 seconds. Whoa! Flare 11's inteface looks awesome compared to both Flare 7 and Robohelp 11 (but RH is worse) The default HTML5 template looks pretty awesome Indeed I can make more than one skin easily. However... The ...

Re: Creating "Branded" HTML5 output
Also, the two features you mention are also in Flare: Merged output , and Excluding topics not linked . Hope this helps. -Paul Oh right! The issue wasn't topics as much as it was resources. Files that I wanted to have in one version still were output, even if they weren't linked from an included to...

Re: Creating "Branded" HTML5 output
The one I got last time (and I think the same when I filled in the trial request) was not able to answer me on this. Forwarded me to tech support and that's when I got really busy. But maybe this is where I was blind: Aren't "skins" for WebHelp output? I remember that this was the issue I ...

Re: Creating "Branded" HTML5 output
Is this new? I tried Flare 10 a few months ago (I think it was 10) and I don't remember seeing anything about skins. Or maybe I was rushing a little to much and blinded by all the stuff I had to do at the time

Re: Creating "Branded" HTML5 output
Hi emsachs,
I had seen that page. The issue isn't branding the page. The issue is having more than one brand per project. That's what I'm not sure about, especially if it's a single html file for all outputs (as far as I could tell in my last trial which was I think v10?)

Creating "Branded" HTML5 output
Hey all! I haven't been really up to date on new Flare technologies and in fact I'm still currently using Flare 7. We actually went to Adobe Robohelp for a while but there's just a few things that really, really bother me about it and of the 2 features that pushed us towards going to Robohelp, we're...

Re: A mini TOC that only shows pages under that "book"
I have absolutely no excuse in that regards. The only authoring tool I've ever used (and is ever likely to use) is Flare, so whatever MadCap defines as being their standard is also mine.

Re: A mini TOC that only shows pages under that "book"
Ah, I thought it always referred to the header level and not the toc structure.

A mini TOC that only shows pages under that "book"
I'm trying to see if there is a way to create a mini-toc that will automatically (and only) display a list of pages that is one place deeper in the hierarchy, under that page. What I mean is, I create a "New Book" and put a series of topics (which do not always have the same header level) ...

Quick Tip: Cheating your way to cross-output searching
Didn't know exactly how to describe it in the title, but what I mean is that in my case, I needed to find a way to send a client to a different manual whenever they made specific word searches in one manual. The reason for this is that the different error messages (Codes) for our software were all r...

Re: Flare 7.0.1 very slow, and freezes?
I believe this may happen for me in a specific situation: When I am with my laptop at home, on VPN connected to work. In that situation it's really slow... Otherwise, when I'm at work or not on the VPN, it works great. Seems like something is being done on the network every time it displays a folder...

Flare 7.0.1 very slow, and freezes?
I'm trying to see if anyone else may have had this issue, or if it's just on my system. What happens is that all the "tools" (the Content Explorer, Project Organizer, Pending Check-Ins, etc) "refresh" at an abysmal rate, and sometimes Flare even freezes completely for a few momen...

Re: Triggering a search through URL parameters
mymojo, Is your page directly in the root of your webhelp, or is it in a subfolder? For example, if your real MyTopic.htm file is located in mywebsite.com/help/Content/myfolder/MyTopic.htm , then you need to specify that folder. I'm not sure if you need to specify the /content/ because I don't use i...

Using Source Control, Ajax and PHP for contents editing.
Hello All! I am going to start by writing this as a small introduction to what I will soon place here, before I actually write anything. The reason I do this is that I want to make sure that no one at MadCap is going to put on the Mad Cap (heh) and scream at me for giving people a way around the use...

How would you do a "Latest Topics" ?
Hi! I'm trying to see if it would be possible to create a "latest topics created" in a Flare Project. For example, in a knowledgebase, "5 Newest Articles:" is something that was requested by some of our clients and employees. I guess I could do yet another server call through aja...
