Re: Require.js Security Vulnerability

Thanks for the info.
Given that it seems we cannot trust Madcap to be proactive about security, I've dug through a recent documentation build to compile a list of included third-party js libraries. We're going to monitor these ourselves and will apply our own patches as required while waiting for ...

Re: Require.js Security Vulnerability

Yup. There is also a DOMPurify patch that I found out about here - https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?t=34821

Seems to me like it was only communicated to people who reported it or had a ticket open etc.

Very bad communication from MadCap on this and considering they seemingly want ...

Require.js Security Vulnerability

Noticed that the last update to Flare mentioned a security patch.
Digging into that, it's an update to require.js, moving from 2.3.6 to 2.3.7

This one is bad and the vulnerability has been known since June / July of last year. I can't believe that they're only getting around to patching it now and ...

Re: SCORM (xAPI) troubles

Figured it out: For no good reason at all, Flare was renaming my Images folder (and only the Images folder) to "images". Lowercase.

So I told it to use lowercase across the board and that solved problem #1.

Still unsure about the completion bit. Now it's telling me that 100% is not a passing grade ...

SCORM (xAPI) troubles

Trying to build xAPI lesson modules and running into two problems. I've been testing the modules on SCORM Cloud as well as my LMS and getting the same results so I'm fairly certain that the problems are on the Flare side.

1) No images. I can see the images in the ZIP file and the paths seem to be ...

CSS: Invalid display: grid ??

I'm trying to build my own grid based on a web tutorial. The starting point, directly from the tutorial, is shown below but Flare invariably throws an error:
CSS: C:\DocTest\Content\WebHome.htm: CSS: Invalid display: grid
Any idea why "grid" is an invalid display option in Flare? (The page is ...

Single-topic List-Of Proxy?

I'm pretty sure the answer is "no", but does anyone know a way to tell the List-Of proxy to stop at the end of the current topic?

What I'm aiming for is essentially a mini-TOC that looks at bookmarks within a topic rather than sub-topics. I can build my own list, item by item, but it would be nice ...

It does indeed sound like a permissions issue. Just guessing blindly, but do you ever run Flare with admin privileges? That would create file access problems.

Proxy styling

Looking for some guidance on how to style a proxy. (my general quest here)
Specifically, I want to modify the e-learning proxy so that the progress bar is below the buttons, not beside them.

I don't see how to add extra CSS in the component skin editor, so I'm guessing that I'll need to mess with ...

Re: Newbie confused by project binding

Figured it out. Total newbie error...

I was used to keeping my project in a folder named "DocTrunk\Trunk" (Don't ask why)
When I bound it to Central I got more specific: "ProductName"
When I did the fresh import, it wanted to place that under my folder as DocTrunk\Trunk\ProductName. So I moved ...

Newbie confused by project binding

I've used Flare for a while but am new to Central. Hoping someone can explain the following to me.

We uploaded a project to Central and have since created a few branches.
Last week, I was having trouble with things being slow to respond, so on Madcap's advice I did a fresh import of the project to ...

Re: Stop auto-inserting h1 tags in new topics

The following probably isn't the most helpful reply, but I'm wondering what use case there would be for this?
If you're creating a topic fragment, then perhaps it would be better to go straight to a snippet?
If you're planning varying heading levels (perhaps that topic gets an H1 but this one gets ...

Relationship Tables as Dropdowns?

Wondering how to achieve a relationship table that's rendered as a dropdown in a SideNav HTML5 target. I suspect that there's more to it than just setting the CSS style. Like maybe adding some JavaScript? Does anyone know how to achieve this?

Update: I found a simple solution. Just pop the ...

Re: Mad Cap Search not working, is TFS to blame?

Have you tried clearing your browser cache?
Happens to me every time I upload a fresh doc build. The old search chunks are cached and therefore a search won't find the new chunks. Ctrl-F5 and all is well. I can count on a few complaints about the search not working after every update.
The IT team ...

How many Relationship Tables do you use?

For those who use any at all. ;)

I'm planning to make more use of these for cross-links of functions and properties, because it's difficult to update all topic instances when a new one is added to the family.
There are a lot of them, so I'm considering whether to use multiple Relationship Tables ...

Haven't actually tried it, but wouldn't that just be a CSS clip? Copying from the W3 schools example:

img {
  position: absolute;
  clip: rect(0px,80px,200px,0px);

Can anyone suggest a way to keep slideshow arrows away from the text and images in a slide?
