Re: Can't Adjust Column Width in Table
Psider - thanks so much for clarifying! It looked like that, 'cos dev gives me long API params - part1.thing2.anotherpiece.yetmore@finaldestination\ Confirms what I thought - as I work to move this into tables that more accurately show this structure, tables will look better and first column won't b...

Re: Can't Adjust Column Width in Table
This is old so we'll see if anybody picks it up, but... I've read all the suggestions - and had already tried them - but cannot resize columns by dragging or by changing to a % in the column tag. Sometimes it seems to refuse because one cell in the column has longer text (with no space) but it still...

pasting text as preformatted
all - I have code (API examples) done inside a box (using a table, but no columns or rows) and each line is a paragraph, indented appropriately as per the structure. I created a <pre> paragraph but every way I'm trying just inserts as-is, with paragraphs, and I don't get the icon at the bottom that ...

getting started
on a trial but not getting far - very lean documentation for central and looks like a lot is in the videos (SO much rather have text!)
to quickly get info to start, hope to pose some questions here and/or in Slack.
First one - how to grant access to the site/output?
Any help appreciated, thanks

Re: 'open linked file with' for images - menu option broken
Hi ChoccieMuffin, I'm not running Flare on a Mac using a Windows VM, I'm on Windows. Setting a default program in Windows Explorer doesn't make any difference either. It's odd that the same menu option works for multimedia files, but not for images. Cheers! Feebeegeebee have you tried mc support? t...

Re: 'open linked file with' for images - menu option broken
Hi cayennep, Just tried this and it's a bug. If you right-click on a multimedia item and choose Open Linked File With , Flare gives you an arrow and a choice of available external tools. If you right-click on an image and choose Open Linked File With , Flare doesn't do anything, despite various ext...

omg, this is not just me!! been back and forth with them for days, support telling me try all kinds of things, bleh yes, the thing just went missing, and because they say it works for them they're bailing on it I did think we may have implemented a new company security policy - doesn't really make s...

'open linked file with' for images - menu option broken
Image context menu is simply missing. 'Open linked file with...' used to show options, inc snagit on mac. There are plenty image editors on the windows vm tho, but nothing there. And clicking on it just does nothing. Flare support started suggesting things (inc 'reinstall snagit', which doesn't make...

Ok, thx, will try thatNita Beck wrote:I’d try reinstalling foxit, on the theory that then Flare would “recognize” it as your PDF viewer.

add date to every page?
I'm being asked to put a 'last changed date' on every page. I don't think there is value to this, but is there even a way to automate it?? I am NOT using source control, and don't see any reason to, certainly not just to get this. I'm a single author but also not really understood the value of sourc...

right, there are many ways to back up my stylesheet to prevent flare from breaking it - my point is this should not be happening, esp with no transparency

Re: Import overwriting stylesheet?
ah, thanks for this! got a totally vague repeat of the 'help' when I asked some very specific questions I'm pretty sure my stylesheet got overwritten and broken. From now on, think I will back up the stylesheet before doing word imports, then put it back. It is NOT supposed to work like this, and di...

Import overwriting stylesheet?
I 'pointed' an import to the main stylesheet for the project, but that stylesheet shows as updated today (did not make any changes) and pretty sure the import overwrite the stylesheet. Still investigating and have a ticket with Madcap (tho they cannot do anything about many of flare's snafus where s...

Re: MadCap Flare on Mac M1
hi - I see 'there are answers' but not the actual answers
even on slack, if the answer was there it is no longer
Guess it requires support call?? My life lately, at least w/ Madcap it's not too bad.
Any tips appreciated, thx

Re: MadCap Flare on Mac M1
Hi - I see you got this up and running, I've used flare on mac a lot and much prefer it! Trying to set it up now but since you offered - I'm wondering if I have to install the office apps on the vm, or if flare can use the mac office apps? since they are mac, not sure, but everything is transparent ...

Re: turn off pdf/a compliance in pdf output
as I mentioned, I did find this flare setting - wish they did not turn things on by default in new releases!
however, not entirely sure this is true as I checked the other targets and they were fine - but will def check again, so thanks!

doh! asking the question sometimes makes the answer appear elsewhere.
it's in the target settings > pdf options. Not sure how that got turned on, but in case this helps others

turn off pdf/a compliance in pdf output
Recently, when I opened a pdf output from Flare, I got an extra button in the nav bar, which shows this info and also adds a bar at the top saying it's uneditable, asking whether to enable editing. PDF compliance.png Not sure if this is only a factor of adobe, since they change things at random and ...

Can someone please encapsulate the solution here, or let me know re the issues I'm having - lot of back and forth and rather not try every single thing if someone can help 1. Look at p.MiniTOC1, p.MiniTOC2 and so on - that's where you define what your minitoc items look like. you sure about this?? I don't have those styles, but the help says it's here: MadCap | miniTocProxy > MiniTOC1 I created both 1 and 4, since the headers are actually h4 Looking at the thing in the ...
