Yeah, that was going to be my second option. But Shift+Enter seemed to work fine.

Thanks.

Re: Spacing for a company address

Thanks, Niels. I tried that, actually, but it didn't seem to do the trick, at least not for me. (Update: it DID do the trick. ) I figured that the only way would be to create a new <p> style, I will try that today. We generate both print and online output, but for this particular case it would...

Spacing for a company address

Hi, I'm sure this is a very basic question but I'm drawing a complete blank on how to do this. I want to add our company name, street address, city/province/postal code/phone number each on a separate line, just like you would address an envelope. However if I start with a <p> tag, then hit Enter af...

Re: Shared directory as output destination

Thanks, Daniel, however that's not really what I mean. I was referring to what can I indicate in the publishing destination settings if the folder is located on a Google Drive location, i.e. it has a URL, not a local folder location? In other words, if I select a local folder on my machine as the de...

Shared directory as output destination

Hi, we are using Flare 12. We use one large project for all documents produced for our company. The project files are stored in a Google Drive directory, since it allows for version tracking, concurrent editing and easy syncing. I have created a template topic that is used for all new topics in the ...

Re: Printing separate glossary?

Hi -- I saw this phrase in your answer to another question: "Create a new topic and add it to the new TOC." THAT is the problem I am stuck on. I created a new topic, but I cannot figure out how to add it to my TOC and make it part of my existing project. Can somebody tell me how to do tha...

Re: Printing separate glossary?

Make a PDF target, create a new TOC, and add that TOC to the new target. Create a new topic and add it to the new TOC. In the new topic, add a glossary proxy (In Flare 9 this is Insert Proxy > Glossary Proxy, there will be a similar function in Flare 7 although the menu sequence may be different). ...

Re: Printing separate glossary?

I'm still trying to figure out how to do this. I followed your instructions above but the issue is that the Glossary in my Project is auto-generated so I don't see it as an .html file in the content browser, just the listing of entries. What am I not understanding? Thanks.

OK thank you. I will try that and I'm sure it'll work. I have been out of practice with Flare lately as we have been moving to web-based (Jive) publishing.

Re: TOC help please

Thanks whunter, but I think maybe I didn't explain it correctly. Am attaching screenshot here to illustrate the issue. I want to change the bold title to the name of the document rather than "Table of Contents" and completely remove the first entry in the TOC itself that says Table of Cont...

TOC help please

I should know this but I don't, so here I am. :) I am using Flare 7. I have a project that includes a TOC proxy and a TOC. When I generate (publish) the PDF, the title page says "Table of Contents" as the title, and the first entry in the TOC is "Table of Contents". I want to cha...

Re: Typo in Flare 7.2.1 help files

This is a peer support forum, although the dudes from Madcap drop in occaisonally. I agree, theres nothing worse than an error like that from a tech communicator! I'd send an email to support, letting them know! I know, ironic ain't it? :) I found a "Report a Bug" link on their website, b...

Re: Images Distorted in PDF

Nothing like reviving a four-year-old thread, but... me too! My pdf images look like crap, just like shown above. All of them are stretched in the pdf but look great in the html5 output. If I then copy an image out of the pdf and paste it into paint or gimp or something, it looks perfect. If I make...

Re: Blurry Images and missing styles in PDF

I'm not sure about the styles, perhaps someone else will chime in, however I too have the problem of image resolution/clarity. Which program are you using for screenshots? I use Snagit (Windows) and find the captures are crystal clear but when placed in Flare and then published to PDF they lose a si...

I am curious if this is still the best way to print (publish) a Glossary that's currently in Web Help to a PDF. I have Flare 7. Thanks.

Re: Hierarchy of how to create a project in Mimic

Thanks, Steve. So when you are recording a movie does Mimic automatically divide each action into a frame, or do you have to create them manually. To use your example of Word, say that you are showing how to change a font. So first you highlight the text, then either right-click and select font, or ...

Hierarchy of how to create a project in Mimic

I'm thinking of revamping the help system that I am responsible for creating for a web-based software app. Currently I'm using Flare v7 to produce printed (PDF) output only. The app I'm writing about doesn't lend itself too well to PDFs, I'm finding out, so I've been tasked with revamping the way in...

Re: System.OutOfMemoryException

The sad part is that i would get the message after recording an entire video. I would also get a message stating that the Record function failed. I had to exit/restart Mimic each time. Same here (sorry, I neglected to mention this part in my post above). I did not have PowerPoint running but I do h...

Re: System.OutOfMemoryException

I am getting the same error. I am using a trial version prior to deciding whether to use Mimic or Camtasia, but since I use Flare 7 I'd like to be able to continue with another MadCap product. I have followed the above suggestion, but I still get the same error. I'm running Mimic 5.0.0 (dated 04 Oct...

Output in video format?

Hi all Flare experts. :) I write help for an application that, although web-based (it's a SaaS application), doesn't really lend itself to printed documentation for a variety of reasons. While I have been using PDFs (non-context sensitive) as the method of delivery, I'm in the process of trying to d...
