Extremely high memory usage and errors
Has anyone seen this particular issue? It's brought my work to a standstill at a critical time, and I need to resolve this to move forward. Just recently I've started to get error messages saying that Flare is out of memory. When I open any file in Flare, the memory use jumps into the range of gigab...

Re: List of in-topic headings? (Flare 7)
Can't you add the onLoad event to the body tag in the masterpage? That means it would load the script when each page loads, so you might want to create a second masterpage that has that onLoad event and only apply that masterpage to those topics where you insert the DIV and want the effect to appea...

Re: List of in-topic headings? (Flare 7)
In case anyone finds this useful, here's a quick-and-dirty solution that we came up with. 1. In the Windows file browser, go to your Resources folder and add a new folder named "topicTOC". 2. In the topicTOC folder, create a new text file named topicTOC.js, open it in a text editor, and pa...

Re: List of in-topic headings? (Flare 7)
Thanks, crdmerge. That's unfortunate news. I'll have to bug one of our developers for a custom script, I guess.

List of in-topic headings? (Flare 7)
I'm looking for a way to insert an auto-generated list of headings (H2 and lower) that are in the same topic — sort of like a mini-toc, but for the topic only. Is such a thing possible with Flare, or should I look elsewhere for a solution?

Re: Process for updating a single page in webhelp?
If you're using conditions, you can use reports to find the topics that contain conditions. Thanks. I didn't know about this, so I'll take a look. Wouldn't it be a wonderful feature if "Find in Files" let you specify conditional text? For your workflow, you may be able to use Track change...

Process for updating a single page in webhelp?
Currently my company publishes our software product's user manual on a per-release cycle. That is, between each software release, we update the help topics to reflect the new and changed functionality, send it for a review cycle, then publish the whole thing on release day. Our goal is to start publ...

Re: conditions not working
I had this issue too, at first. Instead of specifying which tags to include and exclude, specify only the tags to exclude. That seems to work for me.

Re: Flare in Action!
This is my first web help site built using Flare 6. It's pretty vanilla-flavoured but it all works, as far as I know. There is also a toolbar link to a PDF version of the same guide, which also generated using Flare. http://www.sparkintegration.com/systembuildermanual/ Overall, I'm pretty pleased wi...
