Re: Projects not connecting to source control
That's great news, thanks for sharing this. Hopefully they will now look into this more seriously. I have uninstalled 2018 now so will keep on with my 11 until things settle down a bit. Regards, Jonathan.

Re: Projects not connecting to source control
If you get a response then it would be good to know if there is a workaround, I'd like to upgrade to 2018 but In the meantime I've gone back to 11.1.2 as at least I feel I can trust this.

Projects not connecting to source control
Hi. I've recently installed 2018 (14.0.6738) having previously been using 11.1.2. I currently have two Flare shortcuts from my desktop, one for 2018 and one for 11.1.2. I have 10 projects bound to tfs which open perfectly fine when accessed via 11.1.2 but when I try and open five of them in 2018 the...

Re: Adding conditions to table columns
Sorry but I can't see any tags at the top of the topic, I can see the tags down the left hand side such as 'tr' and 'td' but there are none at the top. Should I have set a col tag up somewhere, or is there a view that I haven't switched on? Apologies for being dumb. Thanks.

Adding conditions to table columns
Hi. I'm a relative novice with tables but I want to produce a table with two columns and 80 rows where one client can see both columns and their content, but another client can only see one column and its content. I can see how you can apply conditions to the text in rows so I'm able to block the cl...

Password for Source Safe
Hi. I've just had a new work laptop and copied all my Flare projects over. Some of my projects are bound to TFS but some of the older ones still use SourceSafe. For some reason when I try and get my projects from SourceSafe and save or check in files I'm prompted with a sourcecontrol login dialog as...

Re: Search returning information from other chm files
For the benefit of anyone viewing I have established that this is a bug in Flare 9. This is the Madcap response: "While I'm not sure why this setting was changed, currently there is not a workaround regarding the search results if they are on the same directory. What is basically happening is t...

Re: Search returning information from other chm files
Thanks Margaret but no these are completely different projects having uniquely named Flare project files. The only similarity is where they are stored ie they are all installed to the same common folder. If I delete all the other .chm files from this folder and do a search from the remaining .chm fi...

Search returning information from other chm files
Hi. We have about 8 different products. For this example lets take two and call them 'Product A' and 'Product B'. 'Product A' has a chm file named 'ProdA.chm', 'Product B's is called 'ProdB.chm'. The .chm files are all installed to the same folder in Program Files (x86). A client who has both produc...

TOC Editor - change Mark as new icon?
Hi, I'm using Flare 9.1 having just upgraded from 7. I'm looking at my TOC entries in the TOC editor and for the entries where I have selected 'Mark as New' the former 'red' asterisk is now rendering as a 'yellow' asterisk. The yellow is very difficult, almost impossible, to see in the editor. Is th...

Hi. I've been asked to produce two branded versions of my HTML output. Essentially we have two company names: eg Company A and Company B. I need to produce the same output for both companies but just with their own branded names. The problem I have is that there are about 500 topics already written ...

Re: Project slow to open
Discovered the reason behind this. I was working on a large project and hadn't been closing down my .htm pages (Documents) in my main window after working on them so each time I opened the project, Flare was opening all the old ones. Went to Window > Close All Documents Except This One to close all ...

Re: Player controls not appearing for video formats
Thanks Margaret. I'm fine when it comes to Web output but at the moment our preference is with HTML as we don't publish web help. I have tried generating an SWF file and again this works fine as a Web output, but for some reason another user cannot see the video or player controls when HTML output i...

Player controls not appearing for video formats
I am using Flare 7.1 and Camtasia 7.1 and am trying to include some video content into my HTML help. I have tried compiling avi files but for some reason I can see the video and controls on my own pc, but when I send the chm file to another user and they open the file on their desktop and attempt to...

Re: Project slooooow to open
It's gone back to being slow again and to top it all I have upgarded to 7.1 and it is even worse. It has just taken nearly 6 minutes to open the same project. Can anyone else think of what could be causing the issue please? Closing is much quicker than before so we have made some progress. I just ca...

Remembering last position/size
Hi. Is there anywhere you can set an instruction to store the last position / size in Flare of the HTML output so if the client changes the position and size of the window the changes are remembered? I am using Flare 6.1.
Thanks
Jonathan
Thanks

Thnaks Ladies, you've shaved 2 minutes off the opening time and I am no longer getting the 'Not Responding' when closing the project.

Re: Project slooooow to open
Thanks Laura. I've ticked 'Disable Collecting Phrases' and changed the 'Maximum Word' count to 1 which seems to be the minimum. This has improved it a bit and shaved a minute off the opening time but it's still slow by comparison to my colleages times and he still has the original default setting fo...

Project slooooow to open
Hi. Some of my larger projects (190 mb plus) take ages to open. One project takes 1 minute to query the sourcefile (Sourcesafe) and then nearly 3 minutes to finish opening. I am running Flare 6.1.0 on Windows 7. The same project takes about 45 seconds to open in its entirety on a colleagues machine ...

Re: Change FontHover colour for Index and TOC
Thanks to both of you. I'm not sure which one worked as I deleted the output and made the changes in the MadCapToc.js, MadCapIndex.js and MadCapAll.js files at the same time. The hover colour has now changed in both the TOC and the Index and I will now change the colour for the 'selected' entry too....

Re: Change FontHover colour for Index and TOC
Thanks Nick. I tried both of these but the changes didn't show in the output. I even tried stopping and starting Flare just in case. I'm running 6.1 so perhaps I need a more recent version for this to work? Does anyone else have any ideas on this?
