Uh, one more thing, also take more RAM into consideration, but not sure if that would make much difference in build times. But 2 GB for a Windows system is rather wimpy these days.

Re: CSS rendering differently in IE6 vs IE8 & FF

Solid State Drives for Flare
Hello,
Has anyone done research or created a business case to purchase Solid State Hard Drives for Flare that they would be willing to share? I'm looking for statistics in build times that would make a solid case for good ROI.

Brilliant! I didn't think of adding the caption to a header row. Thanks for the fast reply!lacastle wrote:It should repeat if the header row information is in a <th> tag. In your table properties, make sure you have at least 1 header row included.

Table Captions and Page Breaks
I did a search in the forums and I couldn't find an answer to my question. Is there a way to repeat a Table Caption when a table breaks the page?
For example:
Table 1. My Awesome Table

~~Page Break~~
Table 1. My Awesome Table (cont.)

I guess it depends on your deliverables, but for us It is worth the Table enhancements alone. Subversion integration and External Resources is gravy.Ineffable wrote:Hi elephant in the room: Is it just me, but does anyone see $499 worth of upgrades?

Re: Flare 7, Analyzer 4 and the All-new MadCap Contributor
The new Text to Table enhancement is going to cut down WEEKS of Frame to Flare conversion. This release hits so many of my pain points in Flare. I'm incredibly impressed!!! There is so much stuff in there I want to implement immediately. Is it ok to geek out over Flare?

I don't think that thread had complete information. An _gen_ appears when there are any blank lines with heading ( h1, h2, etc.) tags.

Re: Paragraph style not appearing in styles window?
We have around 20,000 pages to convert (first 6,000 already completed!). I dump the html files into Notepad++ to use regular expressions. I expect with 20 writers it will take 8-10 hours per guide. We'll have everything done in about 2 weeks.

Due to our release schedule, we will be using <p> styles after the conversion and then make it a backlog project to manually convert to <ol> and <ul> styles.

Re: Paragraph style not appearing in styles window?
I think I got it squared away. You're not allowed to map Frame list styles to ol and ul styles in Flare - they have to come in as <p> styles. I made a CSS goof.

i-tietz,
I like your idea - that would save us some time as well. Madcap should add an option on the snippet properties to "Insert Snippet as editable text." Like yourself, we use snippets as templates for tables, graphics, and notes. Most of our snippets are used as text, only a few are used for ...

Test calls is grayed out for two reasons:
1) The primary target must be the webhelp target.
2) You need to build the primary webhelp target. Flare uses the help from your output folder to test the calls.

Re: Alias file for Context Sensitive Help not working
Eric,
What happens when you test the CSH calls?
Ensure your webhelp is set to the primary target and build. Return to Flare.
Go to Build > Test CSH API Calls.
Locate your topic in the list and choose Test.

You mention you are replacing an old page, but in step 8 it looks like you are creating a brand new identifier. I assume it does not work because the application that is doing the call is looking for the old topic, not the new one.

RamonS,
I'm really interested in what your QA does for your docs. We have SME & Edit, but our software QA does not look at our docs as far as I know. We might have a few products that use CSH and those are checked in QA, but not anything else.
I'll try to explain more about my rogue topics.
