Oh, well, so much for that thought. Flare was slower in earlier versions, and I think it might still be slow if you have a looong table in a topic, but I haven't noticed the speed issue that you see in a "standard" topic.
You can get to line 20 in a topic by pressing the down arrow 20 times?
How?

Re: Best editor to use for Flare html files?
What exactly is slow?
You missed the most important step!
- Navigating to the line to edit
If I open a topic that has 200 lines of text, and I am making an edit on line 50, I have two choices:
- Down arrow: In Flare, I have to hit down arrow 100 times to get to line 50.

Re: Best editor to use for Flare html files?
Displaying condition colors also slows down the editor, if you have a lot of conditions applied. Turning off the condition colors in this case brings the editor back to a more normal speed.

I am having good luck using dreamweaver as a wysiwig editor for flare topics. It is much faster for text editing (faster nav, faster open/save, etc).Dave Lee wrote: I'm not sure what would be a viable alternative to using the Flare editor,

Best editor to use for Flare html files?
I am a long time Dreamweaver, Visual Studio, Robohelp user.
I find the Flare editor to be fantastically SLOW.... (I have a smoking hot PC, fwiw)
- Slow to load / save / close pages
- Slow to navigate (to move down five lines, I need to down arrow TEN times!)
I have noticed that I just am a lot ...

Re: How to open Flare with a project from the command line?
Madcap support has told me that the project files are identical across 6.1 and 7.0, and that both can be used against the same project.RamonS wrote:It is highly discouraged to open a project file in a lower Flare version than the project was used with.

error in command line compile "HHC5013: Error: URL reference
Hello!
I have a project imported from Robohelp X5. I compile it in Flare 6.1 to chm.
Using the command line Flare compiler, I get this error: "HHC5013: Error: URL reference in the TOC cannot be resolved: "Deleting_?"."
What does it mean and how can I fix it?

Text output from the Flare command line compiler: Suggestion
The command line compiler rocks.
However, it needs to put more detail in the output.
Some things I am looking for:
1) at the top/beginning:
Flare v## Compiler
2) Some detail near the top: Output type: CHM // or whatever
3) Some details RE publishing:
Output file <chm file name> published to ...

How to open Flare with a project from the command line?
I do most of my work in Flare 7, but I need to do some things in v6.1.
If I just "execute" the project file, it always opens in v7.
How can I have a command line open of a project in v6.1 ?
Thanks!

Command line compile: How to build AND publish?
Sorry to ask such a basic one....
I followed the docs, and have a batch file that builds everything from a cmd line (beautifully!).
But I need to build AND publish from a command line.
I build chms in Flare 6.1, and web help and pdf in Flare 7.0.
Any pointers?
TIA !!

Re: PDF output: Links to other topics try to open in Web Browser
I would still rebuild these faulty links. I've seen Flare get confused like this before. There's something about how the link is coded. Recreating the link should fix it.
