Hello!
I have a project that migrated from Robohelp X5 to Flare v6.1
PDF output works... I get a PDF.
But some links within the PDF try to open a web browser, instead of navigating to the target topic.
Many links within the PDF work properly.
What is going on?
Thanks!

I believe the problem is still open.
A week or two ago Madcap indicated that a patch was in the works.... but it has been pretty quiet so far!

Use a variable in a PDF Target file name? How? (v6.1)
Hi!
Variables rock....
Can I use them everywhere? Like in a target as part of the target output file name?
Do I just throw in: mcvariable:VariableSet.VariableName
or need I enclose it in %% or something?
E.g. what I want is:
WidgetHelp_v11.pdf
Can I do this:
WidgetHelp_vmcvariable ...

We just migrated to Flare from Robohelp (a migration planned for over a year).
We installed Flare 7 ... found this problem, and had to do the whole migration to Flare 6.1 .....

webhelp: popups are SLOW and make browser pause
Hello!
I just migrated a project from robohelp to flare 6.1. It compiles to chm, web help and pdf.
The chm works great.
In web help, the popup topics show as beige for some seconds. It is like they are popping up VERY SLOWLY.
Have tried two browsers on three computers.
What is going on?
Thanks!

Refreshing firefox with web help open: Firefox resizes!
We just rolled out a decent size project in flare 6.1 to web help.
(This project had been a robohelp project for years.)
Issue:
If you do an F5 refresh, firefox resizes.
Steps:
open firefox full screen
put in the url for the new flare web help
Refresh it
firefox resizes
Suggestions?

Can iFrame be used in a help topic to frame a web page?
Question: Can iframes be used in a help topic?
I know that chms and web help allow graphics to be pulled from a web server.
I have some relatively dynamic content that is on a web page, and would like to have that framed into the help.
I compile to web help, chm and (rarely) pdf.
Thanks!

The only related settings would be for the 'chunk' files.
Yes, I will try some options there
If you check the help, you'd find more info here:

1. Skin -> Tab Styles
2. List Styles : ToolbarItem -> QuickSearch
3. Group Show : Alphabetical List properties_quicksearch.png
Inge,
You rock!
That did the trick.
Thanks for the good explanation. I could not have found it any other way.

Where / how do I edit the language skin?Paul Griffiths wrote:Agreed. Also, AFAIK, the only way to change the default text in the search box is to edit the language skin.
(I dug around flare help, and could not work out the answer)

Search is slow to load. Can this be improved?
In web help, I notice it is some seconds to get the Search area to load. (I just tested the web help at madcapsoftware.com, and it is also slow to load the Search panel.)
Can this be improved?
Should I perhaps not care about this?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

web help: the "quick search" option: Useless, or just me?
Is it just me, or is the "quick search" option kinda... misleading?
It implies REAL search.... but it is not!
Should it say "search this page" ?
Thoughts?

This is a known problem (reported some time ago)

Here is another perforce user....
Flare project is in perforce. Output is not.
Bummer that flare doesn't hook nicely to perforce.

Hi!
I use flare 6.1, and have a single project that compiles to several outputs, using conditional tags, and many pages are conditional as well (e.g. included in one output, but EXcluded from other outputs).
Issue: When I compile, I get a list of errors for all the excluded pages.

The Find and Replace tool does take a little getting used to. It's not terribly intuitive.
That is an understatement!
I just used one of my support calls to figure this out (crazy!).

I am sure if you only send the HTML topic file from RH the link may be there, but it doesn't do anything, because the ToC and framework files are missing.
Sorry, but you are mistaken RE the above.
Example:
This is a robohelp web help:

We are in the middle of converting a pretty complex project from robohelp.
We really like the overall look of Flare 6.1 web help.
