Buried in the long stack of errors and msgs was this:

html help compiler crashes when building chm file
Argh!
I have a Flare 6.1 project. It is a new project, imported from robohelp.
This project compiles 5 or 6 chm files, using a lot of conditional text, images, etc.
All of the chms build GREAT.... except one!
The one causes the html help compiler to crash.

Re: Glossary: How to do conditional entries?
It appears that conditionality can cover the whole glossary, but not individual entries.... correct?

Glossary: How to do conditional entries?
Using Flare 6.1
I build to several targets, with a lot of exclusions, conditional text and images.
The question is: How do I do conditionality for Glossary entries?
Thanks!!

Re: Compiling DotNetHelp into a single file
It is a hack, but it does work.RamonS wrote:Don't want to sound snippy, but using that hack as a solution is bad advice.
What would REALLY work (for us, anyway) is if DotNetHelp was a single, compressed file.
Bummer that the MadCap guys can't solve this for us.

Re: Compiling DotNetHelp into a single file
FWIW, we would love to use DotNetHelp, but we can't, because it doesn't compile to single file.
DotNetHelp is perfect for us, but is not usable due to this.

Re: Compiling DotNetHelp into a single file
The above is not correct. CHM works fine over a network. A small registry tweak is all that is needed.LTinker68 wrote: And unlike CHM, it can be viewed over a network.

How to open Flare's help outside the Flare IDE ?
Sorry if this is a dumb Q....
I need ALL the flare screen for my flare project.
When I open Flare help, it opens within the Flare frame.
How can I move it/undock it so it opens externally? (like a chm would) ?
I have three screens, and need to get the help on the side!

Re: So... Any News About Flare 7?
Note, if you create .chm files, AVOID v7!!
It has some serious bugs that make many chms unusable.

Re: How control the dir where the chm goes?
It is not bad design,
You are welcome to that opinion.
From my perspective, I am a super-power-user of development tools and help authoring tools. And I could not get Flare to "do what I told it" until I came here and asked for help.
If that qualifies as "good design" in your book, be my guest ...

How to use the keyboard in Flare? Seems to be weak!
I am using Flare now, after being on Robohelp for many years.
Flare is a LOT slower to use. Examples:
OK button on dialogs does not have a hotkey.
esc does not cancel me out of dialogs
I can't seem to switch focus between the main panels via the kbd
Assigning conditionals to text and images can't ...

Ohhhhh!
Thanks!
So obvious! (Not! <g>)
Who the heck designed this so that the output dir is not the output dir....
Bad design...
I will try that tomorrow.

Re: How control the dir where the chm goes?
Set the target to output to the "default".
Then create a publishing destination to the folder you want.
I generate the output to the default location for testing, then immediately "publish" it to where it should go.
Margaret,
Thanks!
But I already have that... see pic below.

global file and replace: churns a lot, does not Replace!
Say there, what is up with this?
When I do the "Find Next" in an open file, it does the replace fine.
But when I set it to "all docs in same folder", and hit Start, it finds a lot of hits, but does not do the replace.
Using v6.1 from past June.
Please advise!
