Re: Control what is output in Errors report

Have exactly the same issue.

I've raised a feature request for it - actually 2 feature requests:

1. In the target, indicate what error warnings you are interested in (like ticking boxes on the reports). So you can say Absolute links / links outside project are not errors.
2. Have a parameter ...

'Work to do here' reminders within topics?

Hi All,

In my ideal/naive world, I would like my tech writers to write their documentation based on the specs, and then the testers to provide the screen snapshots that would accompany the text.

Realistically, the Tech writers will probably have to create the screen snapshots when the testers fail ...

Hi Emily,

What we will be attempting is to use Outlook rules to divert emails that are sent to the central email, so they are then sent to the relevant groups, dependent on the chain from the "Topic: " text ...

Re: Newbie Question Header banners

IMHO, we use Master Pages (for Webhelp) and Page Layouts (for PDF) - pick them in your target, and job done.

You can also specify different Master pages than the Target Master page, through the stylesheet in the html category.

Hope that helps.

Re: Tortoise SVN 1.7.1.22161 is incompatible with Flare 7.2.0

Adding myself to this list as well.

As syncing with SVN through flare takes approx 15 times longer than through Tortoise (and makes x number of additional calls) - any large project needs to work with Tortoise.

Oh, and we have the problem in Flare 8 as well, in case anyone was hoping....

I'd ...

Re: Where's the HTML5 in HTML5 output?

Because it doesn't work well with IE8?

I don't know enough about the underlying code - but with larger projects, IE8 simply can't handle it (Chrome and Firefox are fine). Which seems to be a symptom of HTML5.

Some scripts on masterpages aren't working too.

According to Feedback, over 50% of my ...

Re: Importing from Wiki structure

Hi Aaron,

We were using the paid version. We paid more for mindtouch than we did for Flare, and the results are incomparable. It might have been improperly deployed - but we also spent a lot of money on consultants and inhouse coders, to try to get what we needed (which it didn't do by default ...

Re: Automatic Styles in Condition Tags?

Sort-of-related - don't know if this will help, but it fitted our requirement -

one of the departments wanted a 'flag' on any page which had a particular condition text. We used this code for our master page (its all in the script):

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

You are not alone.

I do as well - sometimes you can't easily see the results.. Generally have given up Analyzer for Flare reports (sadly, Analyzer 5 doesn't seem to fix Analyzer 4's most gratuitous problems) - so haven't found a solution either.

Re: What's the single biggest Flare project you've had to manage

Ok, this is exactly what I need to know about.

I currently have 15 projects, with topic counts from 100ish up to 4,300. In total, they make up 17,000 topics, and 24,000 images (maybe a few redundant in there)

I'd love them all to be in one mega-project, as would be so much easier to keep things ...

Top thread, everyone. I initially was thinking 'but surely Batch Build takes care of this...' but then realised:

- and I saw this could be done through the batch script.

Re: Quizzes/Learning Checks in Mimic

Unfortunately, have been told the opposite by a senior manager in Flare, during a Madskillz consultancy.

The only way a quiz could work is with an image map - where depending on which option you click (area of the image map) you are taken to another page that says 'right answer' or 'wrong'.

Hi,

This probably won't help I'm afraid. I'm producing Webhelp - and it only has Rank and Title (which is what you want).

I need to be able to add a column - source (the first folder/couple of folders in the TOC or Content Explorer that holds this). So - I have a similar problem.

Hi,

I've had this problem countless times (a result of migrating from a wiki, where it wasn't an issue and people got carried away).

1. Get a full directory listing, including all the subfolders - launch CMD, navigate to your Content folder, and run:

dir /on /b /s > list.txt

Have you tried generating to browser, copying all this into XL and then just splitting apart using cell formula

Column C = =IF(B x ="File",A x ,C x-1 ) <- If column is File, show the ...

The 'circular login' issue occurs in IE9 - but NOT ie7 or Chrome.

Would be good to get a guide to what settings need to be applied.

Yes, you can open it in Notepad - but I don't find that particularly useful when there are multiple issues, for multiple contributors to sort out. It would be much better to be able to just save it as an .xlsx or .csv
