Hi Dave,
I am putting conditions on the content - generally at the paragraph level, but also sometimes at the Topic level. I would then have to exclude everything that didn't fit that condition.
Presumably, I'd also need to put 'conditional text' on both the text within the topic, and also the ...

It could be either, but will be predominantly online.

Automatically generating a TOC based on a selection
Hi All,
Maybe it's because I'm new to this, and don't understand the 'proper' way of arranging work, but it seems to me that Flare is missing something fairly fundamental (I would be delighted to be corrected on this).

Re: How big is yours? Question about size of projects
Thanks for the responses all - it gives me confidence that Flare will be able to handle the volumes we will be dealing with.
We have two main documentation centres - in Europe and Asia - so will probably have two repositories, to save on network considerations, see if that has an impact. Will ...

How big is yours? Question about size of projects
Hi all,
Trying to work out if I should put my (several thousands of pages, and likely to grow quickly) company documentation into one single project, on one SVN repository, with thousands of snippets and images - or split the project into separate streams, including multiple SVN repositories, for ...

Re: Combine two topics on one page?
Hmmm, so by default we would always have a page break, and then when we wanted to merge some documents, we don't put in the page break.
I can see how it would work, but it looks like a bit of a workaround to me - and as these are new users to the software, might put them off/go horribly wrong, and ...

Re: Combine two topics on one page?
The output will be for the trainers to train - so will have an output for the trainees, and an output for themselves which would include information tagged as 'trainer only'.
We'll use whichever output can work best, and include this function!
I'll look into the page-break-before- however, I would ...

Re: Combine two topics on one page?
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll look into the expanding/drop-down text features - haven't been aware of that up until now.
I actually have content on one slide that would be split out into multiple topics - so where there are 3 facts on one slide, I would want each fact to have its own ...

Combine two topics on one page?
Hi All,
Am trying to convince our existing trainers (ppt enthusiasts) that they will still be able to deliver their training courses based on Flare output.
The progressive disclosure enabled by Powerpoint can probably be replaced by a setup from Mimic - or another video.

Hi all,
Aware this thread was last updated a year ago, but the topic is still relevant.
I'm starting a pretty big project to merge our user guides, training courses and context sensitive help (for starters) into a single-source database, from which those outputs would be generated.

Re: Quizzes/Learning Checks in Mimic
Hi,
Do we know if/when this feature may be added to Mimic?
Just adding my 'this would be really useful' vote.
(and yes, I have submitted an enhancement request as well)
Thanks.

Re: Getting rid of </span><span+> from word imports
Many thanks - the Remove Inline Formatting tool seems to have worked (will need to do more checking, but seems to do the trick).
Always nice (and rare) to try something new, and it do exactly what you want, first time!
thanks again

Re: Getting rid of </span><span+> from word imports
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll go through each, to the best of my ability (warning, this could kick off further questions). We are also evaluating a product 'DataExtractor' which apparently strips out unwanted code, will let you know how I get on - can't believe I'm the only one to have this ...

Getting rid of </span><span+> from word imports
Hi All,
I assume the problem is with word (it usually is) - I'm starting up a big conversion task from word to MadCap, so want all ducks lined up beforehand/processes clear. When I import docx into a project, the converted output is generally ok - but often there are a bunch of </span><span+>s in ...

Re: Importing from Wiki structure
Many thanks for the quick reply. Links are indeed relative, so no problem there.
Sadly Madcap hangs when I link it to the root folder of my content folder. Has been hanging for a couple of hours, anyway. Its quite a large site. May load it into Sharepoint and see if that helps in any way.

Importing from Wiki structure
For people who wonder if web authoring tools will become redundant with the advent of the Wiki, fear not.
My company thought Wiki was the way to go, and went through great pains to convert our user documentation into a Wiki (Mindtouch DekiWiki, since you ask).
It was not a good experience. We have ...
