Re: Sending instant messages: how?
We have a similar problem - some of us can see each other in IM and some of us can't. Madcap support just directed us to the help topic About Instant Messaging that just says "it works on a network". However, this obviously isn't the case given we are on the same network and sit near each other). My ...

Re: Problems with keyboard shortcuts?
What version of Flare do you have? 9.1.1 contained a patch for keyboard shortcuts failing. (sorry for the mobile link - that's what google turned up first try and I'm too lazy to figure out the desktop URL. :P )

Re: Top part of screen disappearing
I've seen mine go black when I'm using a large amount of memory on my system; by no means all, but a significant chunk (I think I saw another post recently complaining about Flare not using memory above about 4GB? but could be mis-remembering that one... :?: )

Re: Automatically Adding Bookmarks (<a name> tags) to h2,h3,h4
Adding all the headings to the TOC will insert a bookmark for each heading. It'll be the first word of the heading, I believe. Perhaps with a 1/2/etc added if the first word is the same in multiple headings.
However, I'm not sure the OP would want all the headings in the TOC and it's not exactly ...

Re: PDF embedding? (re:Visio support (aka I hate Visio!))
Not a solution, but wondering, if you really want .svg output, maybe you could output Visio > .svg, then open the .svg in Inkscape to fix the borked sections? If there aren't too many? Just thinking out loud really. One of those days.

Re: Footnotes separator line left position
I think this will do what you want. I think the problem is that behind the scenes there are two different footnote boxes - and outer one, which is where the border is, and an inner one, which is where the text is. So setting the margin or padding on the inner one (footnoteBlock) only affects the ...

Just FYI, I reported the See Also button showing the current topic as a bug a few months back.
Although, if I could figure out how they got the tick, maybe I wouldn't care so much.

This article is from the Madcap KB. Specifically for Webhelp, but I think it wouldn't hurt to try for HTML5:

Perhaps the topic "Specifying Page Background Settings" will help, although I haven't tried it myself.
You can set a background for each page in a page layout (right-click > Page Properties > Background).

Re: RoboHelp and MadCap deployment the same?
One problem we encountered was the extra "Content" folder level in the output that caused us a few problems, mostly because of a few hard-coded links. However if you do find the Content folder is causing issues, there is a setting on the Advanced tab Do no use "content" folder in output .

Re: The fight against table widths!
The only way to set a width for the table in your TableStyle, as far as I know, is to edit the stylesheet in a text editor and it's possible that the change would be removed if you edited then the TableStyle using Flare's interface (I haven't tried that). I can go into that detail if you'd like ...

Re: The fight against table widths!
I just tried changing the column width of a column in one of my tables, and that updated my topic using that style. Unless you customise the column widths for that specific table - you'll have to right-click on each column and select Reset Width to get a customised table to use the TableStyle widths ...

Re: Is it possible to import an EAP file into a Flare project
I'm not familiar with EAP, but I suspect Flare won't be able to interpret the file format from that product. Perhaps that tool can Save As or Export as another file format, such as gif, png or bmp?

I'm pretty sure it is a Flare problem when using IE.

We've imported a lot of projects from Robohelp without encountering this behaviour. Having said that, there are a bunch of other quirks we found, so it's possible there was some oddity in your project which caused this.

Just to confirm you set the mc-thumbnail-max-height and mc-thumbnail-max-width properties (I assume you are using a stylesheet to set this, rather than on each individual image)?

Re: Custom image bullets don't print
I've done some more testing and in this case I believe it's a Flare output problem, as if I create a very simple HTM page outside Flare, open in IE8 and print, the bullet image is printed correctly. I also tried turning on the background printing in IE, but the bullet still doesn't print out when ...
