Re: TOC proxy draws line on top of each TOC page

You need to edit the MadCap|tocProxy style in your stylesheet. I recommend the Advanced View for this.

Re: Scroll behaviour in XML Editor irritating

If you change your toolbar from Ribbon to Tool Strip (File > Options > Interface) do you still get the same problem? Just wondering if it's related to the DotNet 4.5 issues in 9.0.0. If the issue goes away, you could upgrade to the latest version of Flare, or uninstall DotNet 4.5, or just leave the ...

Re: Moving to Git, looking for a good XML diff tool

Have you tried Beyond Compare by Scooter Software? I don't do any merging (I assume that's where the 'breaking' occurs?), but you can define your own grammar rules, so perhaps this could be tweaked to suit your needs.

Perhaps check that the image styles defined for 'print' and 'QuickStartGuide' have the same settings? For example, max-width might be set in one and not the other.

Re: CHM to PDF

I'd look at the styles set up for Medium: print in your project to make sure they look correct - you can see approximately how it will look by opening a topic in Flare, and selecting the Medium in the XML editor tab.

Also there are longstanding bugs with printing in CHM, so perhaps see if the ...

Re: Print all ability from HTML5 output

Internet Explorer has an option to 'Print all linked documents'.

I'm not entirely sure how it works with HTML5/websites, and it's probably only vaguely useful if you can guarantee all your users are on IE. Also, I think files are printed sort of based on file size, somehow, so you won't get a nice ...

Re: How to remove TOC leader AND space?

I think it's because the TOC is actually generated in a table, with the entry and leader in one cell, and the number in another cell. As near as I can tell the widths are somehow controlled by Madcap in the compile and js and css they use.

You could try modifying the width of the MadCap|TocProxy ...

Does anyone else find it really annoying and risky that Flare V9.1 and above is now automagically adding files to TFS without notification?

Re: TOC Sync not working for some projects in merged HTML5

Ugh, after days of tweak-compile-run-tweak-compile-run I've discovered it's occurs for all topics after a "missing" output.

Say I have a TOC:

If 'merged output 1' does not exist (e.g. the user doesn't have that product ...

Re: TOC Panel Issue with IE 10

You could add the meta tag to the source file in the Flare installation directory, however, there is no guarantee this will survive upgrades, etc and will affect every project you compile.

The files are located in the installation directory under Flare.app\Resources\<your output type>\Desktop

e.g ...

TOC Sync not working for some projects in merged HTML5

Hi all,

We have a number of merged projects which we are migrating to HTML5 output. When we do a search and click on a topic, the TOC synchronises for most of the projects, but for some, the TOC does not synchronise.

I've checked that all projects are using the same skin and target settings and ...

Re: All contents of a topic are being selected upon opening

I've had that happen a couple of times in 9.1.0, but nothing regular - I thought it was just me clicking somewhere randomly by accident. The more annoying one is Flare automagically adding files to source control without me telling it to (v9.1). Currently marshalling arguments to convince Madcap ...

Links in snippets with Merged HTML5

Hi all,

We're moving from CHM help to HTML5 web-based help.

Currently we have snippets that include linked text between different merged projects, which works fantastically with CHM.

For example, say we have a Selecting Dates topic in the parent CHM. We have a snippet that includes the following ...

Re: Problem with Tables

I assume you have the column widths set to 'auto'? You could work around this by setting them to a percentage, say 4% and 96%. Or to fixed pixel or em widths, and this should translate through to the PDF - I think only auto displays this issue. At least my quick test seems to indicate this is the ...

It may be because of the content in the merged cell at the bottom of the table. If you remove the last row, does it resize to fit correctly?

Re: Can't run Equation Editor after v9.1 upgrade

The last couple of versions of Java 7 have a security warning popup. It's possible this warning is off your screen. Unfortunately it doesn't respond to the normal windows shortcut key alchemy.

However, to confirm that this is the issue, start the equation editor, wait a short while without clicking ...

Hmm, I used a small png (a grab of a TOC book icon) and set only background-attachment and background-repeat: no-repeat and it showed up on the anchor fine.

My code looked like this (I set it up using the Advanced editor, though):

a.Image { background-attachment: url(book.png);

I successfully did this. However the image doesn't display in the XML Editor, but does when you Preview and when you build the output.

I assume you used the Advanced View in the Stylesheet Editor to set it up, rather than use a text editor to modify the stylesheet?

I don't think there is any way to show/hide conditioned text in the editor, but you can turn the condition colouring on and off - there's a button at the bottom of the XML Editor window that toggles it on and off, or you can access it using the eye icon at the top of the XML Editor window, just use ...

Hi all,

Just wanted to confirm whether this may have been included in V9? I've tried looking in the help and can't see anything obvious, but maybe my search-fu isn't working tonight.

If it hasn't been added I'll add my voice to the feature request database. :)

Thanks,
