The above solution of right-click and select Install instead of double-click to install was on the path to fixing this for me.
1. Remove custom fonts, including all sub-flavors (bold, italic, etc.)
2. Restart.
3. Right click font and select "install for all users". Plain "install" didn't fix the ...

Man, this would be useful ... the ability to control what the Errors report shows . Our project has many links that point outside of the project (and alias issues we're not worried about) and those litter the report ... we quickly hit the 50 item cap and don't know what may be missing.

Double click on the image (in Capture). The File Properties dlog has a "Shadow" tab. You can control the left/right, up/down direction and distance. The Transparency value makes it heavy or light.
There isn't a way to create an outer-glow as in Photoshop, or centered motion blur as in Paint.net.

You're not overlooking anything. Capture is not an image editor. It has some definite strengths (callouts, arrows, highlights, etc) and numerous weaknesses.
