Re: Trying to create Note Table style

I found it!! *headdesk* It was under non-print not default. I knew the code itself was right. :oops:

My thing is, this was for WebHelp, which is technically non-print...?

Re: Trying to create Note Table style

I created a test one and selected MyFlareTemplates (which said none are selected) and added p.note in the Internal Text Editor and it refuses to change the background color or add border colors despite it being set in the Simple View (whichever one looks like Excel). It changes the font color though ...

Re: Trying to create Note Table style

I've added a p.note class and span.note class to no avail. For some reason I see it in style.css, but nothing happens in my topic. It isn't changing a thing. I even opened style.css in the Internal Text Editor and pasted the text as shown for Flare's format directly into p.note which is shown so I ...

Re: Missing Linked Source File Webhelp compile error

Michael,

What did you find? Mine isn't the stylesheet, but it is in regard to a few of my Related Topics and other places. Two of the files it says it can't bookmark to that type of file (an htm topic file), and that it isn't an XML file...yet when I view the output the link works. I haven't even ...

Re: Missing linked source file error when Generating WebHelp

I'm getting this too even though I have gone into the Related Topics and re-added the bookmark to the file, which is definitely there. It's also happening in other areas.

Re: Not applying span.class: span vs embedded styles

As I said, I looked in the XML Editor and the Text Editor (Send to Text Editor). I don't right-click on the topic.

I inherited this documentation from the previous writer, another writer about a year before that, and the non-writer in between them. This doc has been "Frankensteined together" to ...

Re: Not applying span.class: span vs embedded styles

When you say you're looking at the tags in the XML Editor, do you mean you've opened the topic in the Internal Text Editor, or did you just click the <t> icon to turn on the XML tag view? If it's the latter, then that view shows the XML structure, not the full page code. You'd need to view the ...

Not applying span.class: span vs embedded styles

I'm having an issue with a document that uses an embedded stylesheet to bold certain text. When I look at the tags in the XML editor all it says is: <span> my text </span> and doesn't show that it's actually these span & p styles (the text editor shows me this):

span.hcp3
{
font-weight: bold;
}
p ...

Re: Rows.css losing shading when text is bolded

I have 6,118 error message in tables of 200 rows each. The fact that I don't have to color each one individually and can just click and apply rows.css to the whole table at once to shade it almost makes me giddy!

This one was it. Seems there is 3 ways to do everything in Flare.

Re: Setting up lists

At this point that code is gone. I restarted the topic from scratch about 3 times and played until it got quite close. Right now it's "right" except for the numbers themselves not being bold. I started before lunch and went until 3:30pm...I ended up hand coding a lot of it after playing with Format ...

Re: CHM Output: Red Asterisk on Topics & Book Icons

Paul,

Thanks for the link. I looked under the Skins > Sleek > Styles > TOCEntry > MarkAsNew and it's not set. Ha!

The longer I work with this doc the more I'm tempted to take the "nuclear" option as was suggested in response to another post of mine and start over, but it's so big and I'm so new ...

Re: Setting up lists

For my project, I wanted to use nested lists and bullets which use different list and bullet styles.

I tried out a few methods of formatting my lists (including creating numerous ol, ul and li classes), but I found that by far the best way to set them up was to use 'complex selectors'. Despite the ...

Re: CHM Output: Red Asterisk on Topics & Book Icons

Another possibility is that a previous author has set a particular HTML Help icon against these TOC entries.

To check this, open the TOC editor, right-click the TOC entry and choose Properties. In the Properties dialog, on the Advanced tab, check whether the HTML Help Icon drop-down is showing an ...

CHM Output: Red Asterisk on Topics & Book Icons

I searched all the Flare forums on here and came up with 4 responses that didn't match and Google was coming up with solar flares, stars, chemicals, etc despite searching for "red asterisk" + flare +chm so I'm posting this here.

When I build a CHM and view it several of my topics and a book or two ...

Re: Spellchecker glitch solved: random SPAN tags

Sorry, Robin, those plus tags have nothing to do with a possible RoboHelp conversion.

I know: we've converted two 40-project merged WebHelp systems from RH to Flare, and there's no such code anywhere in the files.

Good luck,
Leon

Re: Spellchecker glitch solved: random SPAN tags

Why would open and closed SPAN tags be spread throughout my topic, seemingly at random, sometimes in the middle of words, sentences, or paragraphs?

This is what's messing up my spellchecker.

What might have caused them to appear, and can I get rid of them?

This is the closest thing I've found ...

Re: Spellchecker glitch solved: random SPAN tags

There's just images, fonts, link styling, and paragraph fonts and margins in the header.

I'm starting to suspect there wasn't a stylesheet as many things like the graphics for bullets are just links. There are no styles listed. One of the guys here told me late yesterday that part of the reason ...

I'd try to identify where those + characters (<h2+>, <p+>, etc.) are coming from. I've never seen that; has anyone else? I didn't think so, but I had to ask. This is my first CHM since 2003. We also produce MC WebHelp it seems. I think the CHM is going away for us eventually.

One thing I don't get is it went to both my local and network folders and the Output folder copy on my local drive works, but the one on the network drive doesn't. It tells me to try typing the URL again. Should it not work in both or have I been away from a network so long I've ...

Publishing Destinations v Output Folders

This is my 4th day with Flare and thus far all I had seen/read was information about Destinations. Now that I created a CHM output I found that there is also an Output folder, which is different than the Destination. Why is this? What's the difference between a publishing destination and this output ...
