Ah. I didn't have any complex selectors in use in my stylesheet and it displays in Flare and online just fine, but I added them for the print medium and it prints correctly now.
Thanks!

Bullets Change Style On Printing from Preview
I have a WebHelp output with some nested lists with the levels as numbers, bullets, then circles. When I preview the topic in Flare it displays correctly. I printed the topic from the preview so I could see it on paper as that just works better for seeing things sometimes and it printed as all ...

Multiple Header Files & CHM Output
Is there anything wrong with having more than one header file? When I published the CHM of our Help the first time a few months ago I used the one that was already there and I ended up having to create more Header files and Alias files to get it to work when connecting the topics and the CHM file ...

Re: Index entry popups v second-level/subkeywords
fyi: Flare's Index pane (View > Index window) is a useful place for tweaking keywords: names, plurals, cases, etc. When you rename keywords in the Index window, Flare automatically updates the assigned topics. Much faster than finding and updating keywords in each topic.

Re: Index entry popups v second-level/subkeywords
Thanks, Ginny. I think the index may need an overhaul once I get a chance. There are things like balance and Balance which Flare counts as separate and words with or without an S, etc though not in too many places that I've seen. I wonder if any of it is from being imported from RoboHelp? I'm not ...

Index entry popups v second-level/subkeywords
I've noticed that a few topics in my index have a popup associated with them. Some of these index entries have second-level keywords which don't necessarily match what is in the popup. What is the difference? Where do the popups come from?
I use Flare 7.2.
Thanks,
Robin

Re: Flare still publishing TOC entry despite condition tags
You are saying that when you publish, the TOC entry is still there, even though there is a condition in the TOC entry that is supposed to be excluded in a given output?
That sounds like a bug. Do you have a support contract with MadCap? If so, open an e-mail case. If not, here is the bug report ...

Re: Variables Missing from WebHelp
Could you post the code from one of your topics of a paragraph that contains a variable that isn't showing up in the output?
Also, if you create a new online output target (don't modify it) and build it, are the variables still missing?
No, I can't. :-( We have our Help password protected. The ...

Re: Variables Missing from WebHelp
Does the code look like this:
<MadCap:variable name="MyVariableSet.MyFirstVariable" />
Is the MyVariableSet.flvar file located in your project's Project\VariableSets folder?
Good luck,
Leon
Yeup, they're both there in the local C: folder. There aren't any from the child project, but I'm not ...

Re: Variables Missing from WebHelp
Do you have more than one variable set? Did you at any time rename the variable set? If so, did you double-check in the WebHelp target that it's pointing to the correct variable set? Since you can also override the variable's value in the target, double-check that you didn't inadvertently delete ...

Variables Missing from WebHelp
I've found that my variables are showing when I either Build Primary or View Primary and click the button to View Output in Flare I see my variables, but when I publish to WebHelp and view it, they aren't always there. There are no condition tags applied to any variables. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Robin

Re: Best Way To Merge Projects Which May Later Be Separated
I stumbled on Global Project Linking after an hour or so of reading and looking through the Flare 7 online help and the forums. Should I rename my condition tags since I named them the same thing in the two different projects? Will the sets overwrite each other? The Data Dictionary set only has 4 ...

Best Way To Merge Projects Which May Later Be Separated
I started a Data Dictionary project as a separate project in Flare because my understanding of what my boss said was that he wanted it separate. Well, apparently he wants it combined for now, but it may be separate in the future. My question is what would be the best way to combine the projects in ...

Rick,
I'd already gone into the layout and changed which was the primary and swapped them around and all that, but it was still doing it so I was a bit baffled.

Re: Project Analysis Window Won't Open
I figured it out. It was a Windows thing. I really wasn't about to reinstall Flare to try to fix it like they did with the IM software, which I thought was odd, but it is buggy. I tried opening something else I usually have in my second monitor (which was on the right but is now on the left -- two ...

I know ...

Excluding Content from Output: WebHelp & CHM

Fun. Apparently this one starts showing up about 3 months into using the software then.
I'm already having to restart all the time to use TFS without going through Flare since that causes too many problems.

Spacing Bug?
Has anyone come across Flare locking up and not allowing you to use the spacebar or even the backspace or delete key from time to time? We've been experiencing it in v 7.2 and 8 the last few days. I initially noticed it when inserting a small graphic of an icon into text and it wouldn't let me put a ...

I was trying to fix my issue with the CHM mentioned in my post about the CHM loading the wrong topic (http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14976). CHM Loads Wrong Topic
I'm having issues with people trying to go to Help in the CHM file from our software and the wrong topic loads. There's a keyword in the search field when it loads so they could just click search to find relevant topics, but it isn't really obvious you have to do that. I have 2 or 3 different alias ...
