It shouldn't matter how many hyphens there are on either end. I've used however many I want to ever since I started with HTML in 1997 so to me this is rather odd.

Finicky Commenting Code in Topics
I have a topic that is getting a bit long and I want to add each section header in as a comment so I can find things quicker in the code when I need to tweak it there. I used standard HTML/XML commenting format and Flare is yelling at me that my format isn't correct when I use ...

Re: TFS & Templates: Are templates stored in TFS?
Thanks, I'm still new to Flare and hadn't thought about, or realized, I could do that. I was thinking I'd have to keep them in my share drive and then have to remember to update them there if anything changed since I have edited them a couple of times since creating them.

Re: TFS & Templates: Are templates stored in TFS?
Thanks, Dave. I was wondering for backup purposes, but just put a copy in my shared folder on the network. I'm also wondering though how to share them with new technical writers as I've always been the lone writer (even in previous jobs) and they are hiring two more. I think the first one starts in ...

Re: TOC + No Title Tags
Nita,
Actually, I do have <h1> tags at the top of the topic. Some topics have <h2> tags, but mostly it is just the <h1> at the top. Whenever I Add Topic from a template (which I'm doing with everything at the moment) it will use whatever I enter as the file name as the H1 at the top of the topic ...

TFS & Templates: Are templates stored in TFS?
Does TFS hold copies of Flare templates? It doesn't seem to be keeping mine as I'm not having to check them in and out or when I go to modify them. I did a search on here for +tfs +template, but all I came up with was one SharePoint post.

Re: Getting files into SharePoint
Did you ever get your files into SharePoint? I could only figure out how to upload 1 file at a time from SharePoint and said forget it (because there's 1,900+ files) and finally got connected to TFS here. Plus, some files wouldn't ever upload. Several people have told me SVN is open-source (free ...

Re: Namspace Conflict
I'm not sure how, but this time telling it to undo local changes fixed it (only took me 30 mins or so)...but now I have to figure out what the Linked From and Linked To links are (I have an old copy on another drive) and get those back in the topic.

Namspace Conflict
It's Friday so I guess I wasn't thinking, but I tried renaming a file and named a new file the same name as the old name...and now I'm getting namespace conflicts and the file won't check in. I deleted the old file, deleted the new one, brought them both back, I've resolved multiple times, tried ...

Re: Sync TOC: Don't See A Change
No, I mean I'm in a topic and the TOC is displayed on the left, I click say a Related Topics ink within the topic, and all it does is hop over to the new topic's title. Only, if the book that Related Topic is in is closed, it doesn't open that book.

Re: Sync TOC: Don't See A Change
If I close all the books and click a link, the TOC doesn't open. Nothing happens. If they're open I see the highlight move from top to topic though.

How do you change the highlight color and it's text color when you click on a topic?

Sync TOC: Don't See A Change
I went into the General tab for my WebHelp skin and checked the box for Automatically Sychronize TOC. I don't see any difference. The topic is highlighted as always. Am I missing something?

List Item changes from 7 to 8 between Editor & Preview
I was wondering if any of you have any ideas what would make a list number change between the XML Editor and the Preview window? My number goes from 7 to 8. I went into the code and put start="7" and it erased it and still changes it to 8.

Dave,
That's what the Dev said when he was trying it for himself and it finally connected. Clicking Browse uses 1 slash according to him.

Re: Bind Existing Project: TFS Error - Doesn't connect
So apparently the Browse button for Server is "broken". If you click Browse for the Server Flare only puts one slash after (http:/) instead of two (http://) and that is what gets you the error Edit instance-level information. Manually typing in http://ipaddress:8080/tfs using the IP address finally ...

Bind Existing Project: TFS Error - Doesn't connect
I'm trying to bind an existing Flare 7.2.0 project to TFS, but it isn't working.

Re: Flare/TFS/SharePoint Mgt
If I am reading this right, MC Analyzer might do something for this. I tried a demo of it though and it messed up a list and it took me all day to fix it. Although, the documents I inherited are VERY messy code wise due to multiple hands and probably importing from multiple sources (RH8 for one and ...

Re: Not applying span.class: span vs embedded styles
Btw, I tried Find and Replace for the entire project in source code and in text, and it just freezes up (progress bar didn't move for over 30 minutes). Is this typical? I have to save everything and close and reopen Flare to get out of it then nothing seems to have changed.
Thanks,
Robin

Re: Not applying span.class: span vs embedded styles
Yes, but that's what the last person who worked on the document did. It's driving me batty changing it all over to OL as I go. There are other variations of the inline styles in some of the other topics so I'm afraid I'll miss something and have varied looks with in the document. They are going to ...
