Re: Breadcrumbs in PDF Output

Not sure if this helps, but I thought I had the same problem. Turns out I was seeing the heading titles that I'd placed in my page layout headers/footers

Strategies for publishing via iBooks Author

I'm using Flare to publish user guides to MyWebHelp and PDF. I've now been asked to also publish these user guides through iBooks Author.

Suggested strategies for getting content (text, images, layouts, styles, etc) from Flare to iBooks Author, keeping content synced (as automatically as possible ...

Re: Create a tip or note box with an image

As a short aside to this, the solution I've gone with is to simply add transparent space to the top and left sides of my textbox icons (transparent space added to the actual graphic .jpg/.gif/.png file where the icon resides) so that I don't need to use the buggy background-position element. Not the ...

Re: Create a tip or note box with an image

Do any of the proposed solutions above keep the note/warning/tip textbox in line (at same 'tab' level) with the preceding text? Or are they all left-justified? The solution I currently use keeps the text-boxes at the tab level of the preceding text (which is what I want), but the non-repeating ...

Re: resizing thumbnails

Thread necro...

I have the same issue. Considering the range of screen sizes that current end-users may have (desktops, laptops, iPads, smartphones), I want the popup image that comes up after clicking a thumbnail to fit to the screen (more precisely, to be no bigger than the screen).

It's not ...

Re: Gettings lists inline with <p> indentation

Alternatively, as opposed to adding a 10em left spacing to the <p> class, is there a better strategy I can use to get my main text indented from the left while keeping headings flush to the left of the page?

Gettings lists inline with <p> indentation

Hi all,

I've searched a bit but can't find an answer to this....

I'm trying to get the following set up in Flare 7:

A HEADER

This is a <p> paragraph.

This is another <p> paragraph, and I'm going to list some fruit:
1. Apples
2. Oranges
a) Satsumas
b) Tangerines
3. Melons

That's all ...

Span tags everywhere after import from Word

I'm trying to import from a Word document, but I'm getting a tonne of superfluous span tags in Flare 7.

For example, something like this from Word:

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The dog was not amused.

...looks like this in Flare:

[The] [quick brown] [fox jumps] [over] [the ...

Bizarrely, even using F11 (capture last capture) cuts a slightly different area than before.

Thanks for the replies.

I've just noticed the same issue with the Crop tool. Extra width is chopped from some sides, but not others

Extremely annoying, I'll raise a bug, thanks.

Capture Region consistently out by a few pixels

Whenever I try to capture an area of the screen using Capture Region, the captured rectangular area does not match the selected rectangular area. The actual captured area is always one or two pixels smaller in height or width or both. Working around this by selecting an area a pixel or two wider ...

Five Steps to Madcap Flare - excellent customer care

Just a short note to share my excellent experience so far with Lorraine Kupka, author of Five Steps to MadCap Flare.

I ordered her book (hard copy, for Flare 7) last week through a friend's email address. Unknown to me, Lorraine emailed back saying that Flare 8 had just been announced. Would I ...

Re: 'Add to palette' greyed out

To those having the same issue, the problem is that I had one of Capture's default palettes selected in the Palettes sidebar. Seems you can't add to these.

I created a new palette (icon in the Palettes sidebar toolbar) and now I'm flying.

'Add to palette' greyed out

I've created a number of arrow and oval styles that I like, but I can't add them to the palette (the option is greyed out in the right-click menu).

Set Default Look is an option for one default look per shape type, but I want to save numerous custom shapes to the palette.

What am I doing wrong ...

Cannot watch recorded webinar

Hi all,

I'm trying to watch the recorded webinars (in Firefox, IE), but am getting the error: "We couldn't find that video. Sorry :("

e.g. https://www.madcapsoftware.com/demos/signup.aspx?id=1132025244195940170

Clicking the 'Download' link does nothing.

Any ideas?

One other thing, there is an ...
