Re: "Chapter Break" topics are always on a new page

Hi Tony,

Did you ever resolve this issue (of chapters starting a new page in PDF output)? I am running into the same issue and logged a support call this morning with MadCap. So far, they have no answer or workaround but the call is still open. I'm hopeful...

Thanks.

HTML5 search does not find words enclosed in angle brackets

My HTML5 help includes code examples of entries in a particular file, each of which includes angle brackets. If I search on a parameter name that appears in angle brackets in the HTML5 output (for example: <DrmPickupDirectory> ), Flare cannot find it. I tried searching on:

drmpickupdirectory ...

Re: PDF Output Bookmarks

Another question related to the bookmarks panel in PDF output (for HTML5 / Flare 9):

Is there a way to include a "Contents" entry on the bookmarks panel but NOT have a "Contents....iii" entry in the table of contents itself? I learned in a page layout Webinar a while back that I could prevent the ...

How to stop hyphenation of last word in a paragraph?

I saw a mention of it in the Help for Flare 9 (that you could prevent the last word of a paragraph from being hyphenated) but can't find a corresponding setting in the <p> style. I see that there are several "mc-hyphenate" settings but none of the descriptions seem to fit this use. ???

Re: Skin Editor - Options are Missing - How Can I Restore Them?

Got the answer to the ToolTip question (how to assign tooltips to my custom toolbar buttons in the HTML5 skin) while on a support call with MadCap. The tooltips are on the UI Text tab in the skin editor. (See Toolbar Button listings.) FYI, MC support said your button tooltips cannot contain spaces.

Re: Skin Editor - Options are Missing - How Can I Restore Them?

I added custom Back and Forward buttons to my HTML5 skin (Flare 9) using Dave's instructions above (thanks!). Just wondering how to add "ToolTips" to those two new buttons? There doesn't seem to be any related options in the Toolbar Button style. And other buttons on my toolbar (Expand All, Print ...

Re: Global project linking imported entire other project!

Thanks for the reply. I ended up working this issue with MadCap support yesterday, after rolling back to a previous version of VMB Help from source control. You were right, I had selected the "auto include linked files" box, and I don't recall changing that, so I'm not sure why the "mass import ...

Global project linking imported entire other project!

I have two projects: VMB and SSC. Many months ago, while working on VMB, I set up global project linking, to import the stylesheet (*.css) and snippets (*.flsnp) from SSC. Every time I worked with VMB, I kept the SSC project open so I could jump in and update styles as needed. All worked great ...

Benefits of Capture vs Hypersnap?

Just started using Flare (8.1) in the last few months, finished converting from RH and now dealing with screenshot updates. I have the latest Capture V6. My questions are:

1) Do I really need to deal with these props files if I'm not conditionalizing graphics?
2) Been using Hypersnap forever and ...

Re: How to edit index entries that appear in pop-up list?

I called MadCap support about this and they entered a "feature request" on my behalf. In the meantime, I'm having to redo all index entries that had multiple targets to make them subkeywords (?) instead. Basically I'm eliminating the pop-up list.

Please submit a feature request for this. The more ...

Re: En Dashes and RoboHelp Import

Just converted from RH 7 to Flare and almost all of my em-dashes ended up at the end of the lines. I'm pretty sure I entered them with an Alt+0151 and my sources were created in RH, not Word. FWIW....

How to edit index entries that appear in pop-up list?

Is there any way to edit the index entries that appear in the pop-up list when there are multiple targets for an index keyword or subkeyword?

My RoboHelp 7 project that I imported to Flare 8 has many index entries that link to bookmarked sections. RH allowed you to select the target section from a ...

Work remotely without network?

Does Flare allow you to work remotely with a project that's bound to source control (Visual SourceSafe)? If I don't Check Out All and lose my network from home, I am unable to save all unsaved changes. It keeps asking me to log in to source control but there's no network connection to it. Does Flare ...
