Re: HTML5 search broken
Have you tried doing this (taken from Flare's documentation):
Note: If you have problems with search working in HTML Help output, you might need to register a dll file called "RegisterItcc.bat." This may occur if you previously had a program such as RoboHelp installed and then uninstalled it. As a ...

Re: HTML5 search highlighter
Thanks Scott. I've used your script on a project and it worked perfectly, first time. Excellent! MadCap support told me that they are looking into providing this feature, so hopefully they will take a look at what you have done.

Re: Skin Editor - Options are Missing - How Can I Restore Them?
Thanks Dave. I will give it a try again tomorrow and see what happens. I've read a few of your posts on this and know you have got it to work, so I'm sure there's something quirky going on with the way we build our help.

Re: Skin Editor - Options are Missing - How Can I Restore Them?
Does this work in HTML5 output? I am getting very erratic results - it works once when a Search Results page is in the sequence of pages and works all of the time in the TOC, unless the default.htm is in the sequence (which kills the sequence it would seem).window.history.back();

Re: Advice Needed for Translations
Yes, your first option would work...it's just that it means the 'master' English version has to be copied into separate projects for each language. Which isn't exactly a single source solution is it?
I think that is the only possible solution for the time being. I've asked MadCap about it, so ...

Re: Advice Needed for Translations
Thinking about it, that solution isn't going to work either - because the filenames of the Chinese topics have to remain identical to the filenames of their English equivalents so that hyperlinks/cross-refs are maintained. You can't have files with the same name in the same project.

Re: Advice Needed for Translations
Thanks I-tietz. I don't think we had considered having the chinese bits in added into the main, up-to-date English project. That might just work for now (as the foreign language projects get bigger, it will go beyond Flare's memory limit though).

Find topics that don't yet have alias identifiers?
Hi
Does anyone know of an easy way to find out which topics in a project don't currently have identifiers assigned? I can see it is easy to find out which topics DO have them assigned, but not the other way around. Is there a simple way of doing this?
Thanks

Re: HTML5 - Search by Topic Only?
Madcap tech support told me that there is a work-around to make sure topic titles are listed first in the search results. The work-around is an old SEO trick which would be penalised by Google nowadays...hidden text.

Criteria for Search Result ranking in HTML5?
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know the criteria that is used to rank the search results in HTML5 help? I've asked MadCap support but the reply was a bit vague. I assumed Metadata Title would be most important, then Topic title, then Headings 1-n in order, then search term density in the meta ...

Re: HTML5 - Search by Topic Only?
Damn, that's another downer on the Flare output then
Looks like another feature request is due.
Do feature requests ever get put into the product? I've made quite a few - any chance they will see the light of day?

HTML5 - Search by Topic Only?
Hello all
We would like to be able to search help by topic title only (as some industry-specific terms we have to use appear in far too many places). Is it possible to do this, bearing in mind we can't have a web/server hosted help system due to other factors?

Re: Advice Needed for Translations
Thanks for the reply. I agree with you - I don't see why the translators should get content that they are not translating. I think the best approach would be to create a project with just the stuff they translate, then when it comes back, create a TOC for it that also includes stuff from our English ...

Re: Advice Needed for Translations
No, the translators wouldn't translate anything in the English parts.
I'll try and make it clearer (because it is a mess!)

Hello all,

Re: Skin Editor - Options are Missing - How Can I Restore Them?
Thanks Nick. I achieved what I wanted by adding the js to the Event property of each button in the end, but it is good to know I could just enter the lot in that box. Not that I know much js...I'll add it to my list of things to learn - Dreamweaver's next up.

Re: HTML 5 - Including External Resources in search
Flare doesn't seem to like files with invalid XML - I've crashed it many, many times by having topics that contain invalid XML (imported by the way - not because I'm making mistakes!).

Re: Skin Editor - Options are Missing - How Can I Restore Them?
In the Skin editor, there is a Javascript box for entering JS. Am I right in thinking that for this box, you have to enter a complete script that references all of the buttons you are going to use? I expected it to allow me to set the js for each button individually in the box.
I've discovered ...

So what I have now is:
Master Page Layout with Topic Toolbar Proxy included at the top. It is set to include these buttons:
Back Forward PreviousTopic NextTopic RemoveHighlight Print
Skin
No Toolbar options set.
The output I get is:
Print, Expand All, Next Topic, Previous Topic shown above ...

Re: Skin Editor - Options are Missing - How Can I Restore Them?
Okay, sorry...I got a bit confused. In Flare's help, there's a screen shot of the skin with Back and Forward (as in back to the previous topic you viewed, not back to the previous topic in the TOC structure)...it must be a custom option they have added.
It seems that I can add the buttons I need ...
