Hello
I want to edit the skin we are using so that it has a Back button and a Forward button. Should be simple enough, right? I have opened the skin and selected Toolbar, but the list of options in the left-hand pane doesn't contain Back or Forward - in fact, it hardly contains any of the options ...

Re: Can I associate different Page Layouts to individual topics?
Thanks Nita. Yes, I had been looking at Flare's help on the subject but couldn't get it to work. Turns out that I needed to shut Flare down and start again - everything worked as described then. I get these sorts of problems when I've built the help several times in the same day.

Re: Search Filter > Order of Entries
Hmm...you could be right. It's not ideal though, because a lot of the drivers we support are Third-Party, so the capitalisation is an industry standard or brand name. I might have to raise another ticket about this.

Re: Search Filter > Order of Entries
Yes, they are in alphabetical order in the Search Filter file in Flare - but the order isn't the same when I build the output. Things like 'Database Guide' coming after 'DDE Driver Guide'. There are no extra spaces and, like I said, the order is correct in the Concepts file itself.

Re: Need help with page layout frames
I'm raising a ticket too. This 'feature' is badly thought out! All they needed to do was copy the functionality that InDesign offers.

Search Filter > Order of Entries
Hi all
I've created a search filter with several entries. But the odd thing is that they don't appear in alphabetical order, even though they are in that order in the concepts file. How can I control the order of the search filter items?

Re: Is it possible to specify a toc item icon to use by default
I see what you mean...it would have to have some sort of record of what was included in the previous build of a target and be able to compare that to the new build. Asking a bit too much perhaps!

Re: Is it possible to specify a toc item icon to use by default
Thanks Dave, but doesn't that setting just apply the Mark as New style to each item after I've added it? I wanted to make it so that all new TOC items would have the asterisk automatically, so that new content always has the asterisk, even if the author has forgotten to set Mark as New.

Re: IE Compatibility Mode
I'm told that Windows updates shouldn't cause a problem. Security shouldn't be an issue either. For what it is worth, MadCap make the registry setting change themselves for Flare.exe!
We'd never explain to customers how to change registry settings in this way...that's why we do it automatically.

Is it possible to specify a toc item icon to use by default
Hello all
I'm trying to set up our style sheet so that when we add a new item to a TOC, the icon for the item is the book or file with red asterisk icon. I can't see anything obvious that relates to this setting...is it possible to define this via the stylesheet? Or do we have to set it manually ...

Hi all, it seems the DIV definition was inside one of the @ media markers. I moved it outside of those and it now works as I originally expected. Thanks everyone!

If you can't change the registry, you need to add the following to the default.htm:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" />
This might need to be added to every file...we're not 100% sure about that as the registry setting solution seemed a better way (when our help viewer starts ...

Blurry text when callout Fill is set to Transparent
When I set the callout boxes on my images to transparent (Fill>Transparent), the text turns into a blurry emboldened mess. Is this a bug or do I need to change another setting?

Thanks. I don't output to Word, just HTML5 and PDF.

Re: CSS Div class - could someone tell me what's wrong here?
Thanks. I will look into these possible problems when I get in to work tomorrow.
I have checked the right medium is applied to the target so it isn't that. The p image class doesn't have any background colour, so it isn't that, and the DIV would still be seen behind it (as pointed out).

Re: IE Compatibility Mode
I don't think our customers have to change the registry setting - it can be programmed to happen automatically during install I think. I will ask the developer what he has done and try and post the answer tomorrow (UK time). We wouldn't want customers messing about in the registry settings.

Re: CSS Div class - could someone tell me what's wrong here?
Thanks Dave. I'll double-check the target and the case in the topics...i'm fairly sure they are right though. Oh well, another day, another support ticket.
If I find out what is wrong and it's not the case or target, I'll post the answer later.

CSS Div class - could someone tell me what's wrong here?
Hello
I've got a problem with our HTML5 output, and I'm sure it is CSS related. I'm self-taught with CSS and I'm a bit baffled by this. What we have is:
In stylesheet:
div.Example
{
background-color: #ddddfa;
padding-top: 2.00em;
padding-right: 2.00em;
padding-left: 2.00em;

Outputting a part of a project - best way to TOC
Hi everyone,
I've been asked to output just one folder of our (large) help system as a stand-alone help. I know this is just going to be a case of creating a new target, but what is the best way (i.e. quickest) of creating the TOC for it? At the moment, we just have one TOC which contains ...

Thanks. Yes, that sounds like it is the problem. I will see if we can force a change to png files.
