I'm still seeing the same issue in 10.2.1 Almost as if a buffer has filled up with past recent search entries and can accept no more chars.
Toggling in an out of quick find seems to fix it.

Re: Moving to Git, looking for a good XML diff tool
DiffMerge is popular here.
However, as soon as I dumped some big binary blobs into the git repo, they threw me out and gave me my own VM to run SVN.

Re: Alternatives to HTML for Local Help
I'm using both HTML5 and Webhelp. However, I believe there is still a problem with Chrome not supporting local Webhelp. Other browsers can throw up odd behavior. You should test your output with a range of browsers.

You could use a non-breaking thinspace around the underscore: .

I'm not on 9 yet. Is there still an option to generate resized images and is it enabled? Long shot.

Re: newbie Source Control question
It is not really a full local copy, more of a "ghost instance" of the Flare project. It is only when a writer checks out a topic file (or saves a modified local copy) that the individual local topic file becomes a full local working copy. The rest of the project is still a "ghost". (If you try to ...

Re: Integrated SVN Client: Rename and Delete Problems
Yes, I have experienced this almost as long as I have been using Flare with Subversion, which is several years.
I suspect that it is something to do with the project options setting for auto save and for source control, but never quite figured out. it happens a lot less now that I'm the SVN Admin ...

Re: SVN and Flare files on different servers?
You might be able to do this with svn:externals. A while back I had a requirement to pull in a remote folder of binary blobs, independently maintained. The SVN admin set it up as an external.

Re: Lost formatting for images once moved
For +1K images, it has to be worth trying to use Find/Replace. What I would do is:
1. In Flare, Create a new empty folder named IMG1 under Content.
2. Exit Flare and navigate to the project folder, and then the IMG1 folder.
3. Locate all the lost images and copy them into IMG1.
4. Now, all the ...

Re: Flare 8 very slow (SVN?? Track changes?? problem)
I did notice a slighty odd slowdown with track changes where there were multiple changes on a single para. The second and subsequent changes would not "take" for a few seconds. The topics were already checked out, so it was not a repo issue.

Apologies, the second example is incorrect. It should be:
Next, invoke Find and Replace
Find and Replace option:
Find What : .png"/>
(where .png is whatever image format you use)
Find In : Whole project
Replace with : .png" style="height: auto;width: 6.25in;" />

Re: Lost formatting for images once moved
It's still not clear what you mean.
Do you mean:
I moved a number of images between folders, and now Flare cannot find the images and displays a blank placeholder in each topic
Or:

Re: Flare 8 very slow (SVN?? Track changes?? problem)
I have had good perfomance on a project of about 500 topics, 84K words. I am using a Laptop with Core i7 (4 cores) 2.67Ghz and 8GB memory.
perfomance has been pretty good. For example, the nasty index clean up (5009 used index keywords) was quite snappy yesterday. I also use SVN, running on a VM ...

Re: Flare 7 hangs when importing a project from Subversion
Chris,
How are you importing?
I have had better success with big imports by not using import from source control to specify a path to a bound project. You can basically do it backwards - get everything up to SVN (or check out and existing flare project from SVN) and bind to the checked-out project ...

Great! I've been usung Flare since 3.0 and I did not know this. I Guess by chance it has not bitten me for several years - I always had the working target set as primary. Forgot to do that this week and for the life of me could not figure out why topic XML edit view kept reverting to default ...

Re: Flare 8 Ribbon debate
Well,
I wasn't very nice about the ribbon in feedback to Madcap. However, I'm back in a FrameMaker/Robohelp shop after four years using only Flare.
Barely two months using FM 10, and I'll take that ribbon menu in a heartbeat....
