Re: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

I just had to deal with this error the other day. There's several threads on this error already and I think the general consensus is that the system is looking for a file to be in it's original location, but because you moved it, the system cannot find it. This is a very difficult error to ...

Font Size in HTML5 Output

In version 7, I'm experiencing random carriage returns, or line breaks, in my HTML5 output. Other outputs, such as Flash and Silverlight, are fine. It happens usually before the last word in the callout and puts the last line below the bottom of the callout causing the text to be hidden. Here are ...

You may want to try setting one of those properties to 100% just to see if it helps.

Re: Picture Background

According to Flare's Help , "Normally you would not see an image's background, but if you give the image a certain amount of padding, you would see the background around the edges of it." Unless the image itself is transparent, the background you put in Flare isn't going to show. Since you have a ...

Check the page-break properties for MadCap|tocProxy in the StyleSheet. In fact, you may want to open the StyleSheet in the Text Editor and look at what properties exist for the style.

Open the HTML5 Skin Editor and click UI Text on the left side. In the right pane, scroll down near the bottom to Navigation Tab.Glossary and revise the Value for each tab.

Check the mc-popup-height and mc-popup-width properties of the StyleSheet. They should be either (not set) or 100%.

Re: Tables - Interior Lines

In the TableStyle, set the Separator for both Rows and Columns. The Row Separator is the bottom horizontal line of the row (if you have more than one row style, you can have alternating colors, widths, etc.) and the Column Separator is the vertical line on the right.

You can also set the Print Size for each image in the Properties dialog. I usually set Maximum Width to 600px and Height to Automatic . If you have a lot of images, you can also do this in your stylesheet. In the Stylesheet Editor , set the Medium to Print and set the img styles max-width: 600px and ...

Re: Compiled help only contains one page

A couple things you can check: 1) Are there any Conditional Tags in the project that may be causing topics to be omitted? 2) In the Builds window, check the Build Log to see if there are any warnings or errors.

Re: "%20" Inserted into Folder Names

I have a script for replacing the syntax with a space (or whatever else you want to use). However, if you change the file names outside of Flare, it might mess your project up. If you still want to try it, paste this code into NotePad, change the "get current folder" directory to where your files ...

For print output, I use Google Drive. For web-based output, I use my personal web site (while I wait for Tech Support to provide an in-house site).

Re: "%20" Inserted into Folder Names

I try to avoid using spaces in folder and file names, and have used some Help Editors that don't allow them. Which may explain how the syntax was added to your project. Although it seems to me the programs I used inserted an underscore. Have you accessed these directories with any other software ...

IrfanView comes with 96dpi standard.
I'm referring to Acrobat Reader, or what ever you're using to view the output from Flare.

One trick I have used in the past for full screen shots is to change the resolution of the browser, which you can do by holding down the Ctrl key and using the mouse ...

Re: V11 Skin Causing "Object reference not set" Error

Thanks for the reply. At one point I used comment tags in a suspected topic to remove all content and systematically add each paragraph.

Once I identified the skin as the cause, I was able to open the file in a text editor to reference my settings and start over (again). Since this was my first ...

Re: Image sizing

Two things come to mind: Check the dpi of your PDF Reader. This is probably not the problem, but can save you a lot of time if the setting does not match your images. The other thing to check is the Layout setting of Flare's Editor. Setting the menu to Print might help you see if the size of the ...

I wonder if you'd be better off using a separate MasterPage for these topics? There's an article on how to set this up here and set the Show menu of the Stylesheet Editor to Show: Property Groups. The mc-master-page property is listed under Unclassified. In the Master Page, set the background-image ...

Re: How to make all dropdown texts open by default?

The only way I know to do it is to remove style="display: none;" from the div syntax post build. Example:

<div class="MCDropDownBody" id="MCDropDownBody_242886737_0" style="display: none;">

becomes

<div class="MCDropDownBody" id="MCDropDownBody_242886737_0">

You can do this with a third-party ...

V11 Skin Causing "Object reference not set" Error

I thought about bumping this thread, ERROR: Object reference not set to an instance of an object , but the problem really started when I switched from v10. Long-story-short, I'm on a new machine and Tech Support loaded v11. Now the project I am working on won't build an HTML5 output. What's really ...
