Re: Common CSS for multiple (merged) WebHelp projects?
I'd go with crdmerge2's batch file, or my copy file script posted in http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... 12&t=15672. Either way, it's as simple as double-clicking the file and it's done.

Re: Cannot View Styles to Apply in Dropdown or Style Window
Assuming the stylesheet is assigned to the project in the Primary Target Editor , I've had this issue because of the way I structure my content. For example, I like to follow a task step <li> with a separate line <div> to let the user know what results to expect. Only <div> is not available within a ...

Re: How to Configure Tabs and Remove the Accordion in Web Help
I did this for a recent project using the Tabbed skin as a starting point (http://www.madcapsoftware.com/downloads/flareskingallery.aspx). I had to do a lot of Photoshopping, but the client was very happy with it. So, it is possible. You just have to be willing to spend some time on the skin ...

Re: context sensitive and different windows
Ah, sorry. I thought you were asking if calling different skins was mandatory.
I've never done it, but looking at the Help I'd say you can call a different skin, or even a unique skin for each CSH ID:

Re: context sensitive and different windows
You can do both from the same output. Actually, the developer can do both if you provide a CSH file with your project. This is covered in Help > Features > Context-Sensitive Help > About Context-Sensitive Help.

Re: Want a vertical menu bar with equal-size buttons
I played around with another option of making the background a GIF using Paint. It didn't force the size like I though it would. I think the table option i-tietz mentioned is a good way to go. That gives you a lot of control over how the layout is configured.

I probably should mention that I was referring to the master, or default stylesheet, not the table stylesheet.

I would check with the developer(s) of your product. I'd bet they have a hot key in the code somewhere and they may not even realize it.

Re: How to ensure use of default table content style
As I see it, you have two options:
1) Open the CSS in Flare, add the td Style , and set the properties accordingly.
2) Open the CSS in NotePad (in version 8 you can right-click the file in the Content Explorer and go to Open with > NotePad ), find the following code:

The first thing that I'd check is the Page Break settings for your TableStyle. (Using Version 8) Open the TableStyle.css and go to General > Advanced. What is the Page Break for Inside setting?

Re: Table Breaks
Is it possible to use a PageLayout for your long (multi-page) tables and have them on a separate page? If so, you could add the header to the PageLayout. However, if your tables are in-line with your text, this isn't going to work. You need a page break before any long table requiring multiple pages.

Re: Is there an XML Viewer available?
It is my understanding that raw XML files cannot be displayed as a final deliverable, i.e., not like an HTML page or Word document. You can view an XML file in a web browser, but everything is displayed, tags, comments, etc. If you are looking to avoid having to build just for this purpose, I'm not ...

I generate WebHelp into Word without any issues on a fairly regular basis. The only adjustments are to change the skin to (default) and the output itself.

Re: Table Breaks
In Version 8, you can add several header rows and format them individually in the TableStyle Editor . I wonder if you can incorporate the heading table into the table itself, and would that then display after a page break? I'm not familiar with 6.5, but if it uses Table Stylesheets, try adding this ...

Re: CSS Div class - could someone tell me what's wrong here?
Incidentally, you should consider using mc-auto-number-format for your "Example:" text at the beginning of those paragraphs.
So THAT's how it's done! I've been playing around with the content property with no success. I do something similar for notes. Just be sure to include a space before the ...

Also, check the PageLayout (.flpgl) to see if you have a second page there. I'm not sure if the Auto-end on Left over-writes this or not.

Use the Title Page page type in your .flpgl. In Version 8 there are Page Types in the right frame (not sure about older versions). The T page type has no header/footer.

The old-school way is to put the list into a two-column/one-row table with no (or white) borders.
btw, in Version 8, there is a whole section on columns in the Help.

Re: Auto Numbering and Backgrounds
Without knowing how you set up h1, it's difficult to say why the background doesn't show for the number. I added a background-color to h1 and set the mc-auto-number-format to {n+}. The webhelp output had the background color for both.
