I've done some more investigation on a test project and I think there are some bugs here. Firstly, I'll say I'm in the UK, so my PC uses UK date formats (that is DD/MM/YYYY not MM/DD/YYYY). You'll see in a minute why I mention this.
This is what I observed.
The initial import is fine.

Re: What is Making My H2 Heading Hideous?
Have you made the change in the correct medium? You could try making some other change too, like setting the text to red. If that doesn't happen either, you'll know that you aren't changing the correct thing.

Re: Build Reference Number
Not directly as far as I know, but I do manage to do this using MadBuild and a bit of a bodge.
Firstly, use variable for your build reference number. Then you can set it to the value you require in your target file. If that's all you need, and are happy to edit the target file and do a manual build ...

Global Project Linking reimporting not working
I've finally taken the plunge and decided to set up Global Project Linking for my projects. The trouble is, I can't get it to reimport changed files predictably. Any ideas?
This is where I'm at. I identified my global files long ago, put them in a separate project, created an import file for them ...

Re: Conditional text underlined in PDF
is there any chance that you've managed to apply a hyperlink style to that text in the PDF? Or that the style that has been applied has inadvertently had the underline property set on in for the stylesheet/medium you are using for the PDF?

Re: CSH IDs opening wrong topics
Sounds like something has got out of step between you and the application code that calls your topics. You will need to check the application code that is calling the CSH topics, and make sure that they are using the same ids, and that that those ids refer to the same values.

Re: PDF TOC nth level appearing as top-level in output
You haven't set a chapter break on the TOC entry for that topic by any chance? I know that should just increment the numbering, not pull it back up to level 1, but since the reason isn't obvious, it's worth checking everything.

Ah, images. I still haven't worked out quite what goes on there, so perhaps someone else can enlighten me too. But this is how I've made them work for me . . .

Re: Mixed alignment in footer
The CSS files used by the page layout file will be the same as the CSS file used by the topic that is placed inside the page layout file, so far as I know. So, that's probably the stylesheet (and medium, if applicable) used by your target, unless you've set a specific style sheet for your topic. I ...

Re: Mixed alignment in footer
I'm not on my PC at present, but you insert a table in the footer (once you have opened it for edit) in just the same way as you would insert in in a topic. Probably Tables > Insert?

Re: PDF bookmark but not TOC entry?
I don't think you can. I suggest an enhancement request. The PDF bookmarks appear to be tied to the actual document table of contents entries, which isn't always what is required. For example, I wanted to go to level 4 in the PDF bookmarks, but only level 3 in the printed table of contents, as well ...

Re: Grouping for Keeptogether
I actually use this very sparingly, as it's not the most efficient way of ensuring good pagination in PDFs. And I don't ever use it to force a particular pagination that would no longer be correct if the amount of content before that point changes.

Re: Grouping for Keeptogether
I do keep together in a very similar way. But do you actually want the page-break-before and page-break-after: avoid set though? That means that everything in the div will be on one page (where possible) as will the element before it and the element that follows it. That's because what you have said ...

Re: Snippets and Autonumbers in TOC
Whenever I've had problems with auto-numbers, it's always been because some other style with auto-numbers has been incrementing too. Have a very careful look at the styles you use in the content between 2.1.4 and 2.1.8 and 2.1.8 and 2.1.12. You may well find something else with an auto-number that ...

Re: Reviewers cannot add annotations to text in dropdowns
There are all sorts of bugs with drop-downs.
. I would say that sounds like another. Some of them go away if you put the entire drop-down body in a div, so I always do that now. You could try that, which may be a work-around. But I'd report it anyway.

Re: Flare and GIT
I had a big moan about poor Perforce support in earlier versions of Flare - you could do it via the Microsoft API but not directly, and that was extremely buggy, crashed frequently, even when doing quite innocuous things, and left you with projects that couldn't be opened again after some crashes ...

Re: Print, Non-Print, and Default Stylesheets
You set the medium on the target, on the Advanced tab. Your project "default" medium will be the medium of your primary target, so that's the medium that will be used for the styles shown in Flare's XML editor.

Firstly, I'd try closing Flare, deleting all of /Analyzer, /Output, /Filesync and /Source Control, ensuring that any anti-virus checking is disabled for the /Output folder, then open Flare and try again.

If it's a one-off (you have this setup somewhere and just need it somewhere else) then I'd consider working in the text view, and cutting/pasting from there. Would that help?
