What source control system are you using?
Your issue is likely to be related to your source control system. Is it Subversion, by any chance? If so, take a look at this thread (on which source control system to use - they all have their quirks and some more than others - but further down the thread ...

Re: Which source control system (I know, too general)
I'd certainly be interested in knowing how you get on with Subversion. I am close to the end of my tether with Perforce, but I don't have the time, inclination or enthusiasm to try anything else unless I know someone has been there before me, and that it's going to do what I need it to do.

Re: how to avoid break in the paragraph tag in the style sheet
You need to set one/some combination of "padding", "margin" and "border", sorry not got time to check exactly what just now.
I have a very similar note class, and managed to get exactly what I wanted using these.
A few places to look for more help.

Re: New folder locks
I don't use Subversion - I use Perforce - but I may be able to offer you some pointers (or I may be talking nonsense). Perforce has trouble with renames too, especially if you move a folder, which is just multiple renames.

Error: Part URI cannot contain a fragment component
Thought I'd post this, as it may save another Perforce user from some angst.
I tried to create a review package and got the following error:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application etc etc. Part URI cannot contain a fragment component".
Fortunately we have Platinum ...

Re: Which source control system (I know, too general)
If I could choose the source control system to use, I would strongly recommend that you go with one of the couple of options that MadCap claims to support directly, not anything that relies on the Miscrosoft SCCI API, and definitely not Perforce. It doesn't work. :-(

Re: Line break in a variable
Does it also die if you set the break as the value for the variable in a specific target file, rather than as part of the definition of the variable itself in the variable file?
Otherwise, how about two variables, one on each line, then put them in a snippet?

Re: Can I apply a span style to a whole paragraph?
Thanks LTinker68. I too have come to the conclusion that Flare doesn't support a second class for an element. That means I'm going to revert to just my original span class, as much as I like the tidy solution of using a generic class.

Re: How do I get page numbering to work?
Do you actually want page numbers in your webhelp?
The suspect item may be on your master page, and is probably saying "BLANK" for the page number because it doesn't exist in web help. Are you using the same master page as for your printed document? You probably want a different one, or at least to ...

Re: Line break in a variable
Don't know whether this will work, but since no-one more knowledgeable has replied, you could try.
Like everything else in Flare, the variables are stored in an XML file, so you could edit the file in a text editor, and insert the break where you want it. It may just work.

Re: Can I apply a span style to a whole paragraph?
Thanks i-tietz! That's just what I wanted, although I have a couple of questions too.
This works for spans, and for paragraphs that are just my base <p> style. But for paragraphs that already have a class applied (for example, in my case, code fragments, bullets, lists, notes, table data), in my ...

Re: Problem with find and replace function
I've had intermittent results with Flare's search and replace. Sometimes it doesn't appear to find things that are staring me in the face in the topic I have open in front of me. Then it works for a bit. I'm not sure if it's me, or something else, but it doesn't fill me with confidence.

No answers yet, but more questions, I'm afraid. I've relatively new to Flare, but these are just the things I'd look at if I'd tried everything else and was totally stumped (and wanted to avoid a reinstall).

How can I apply a span style to a whole paragraph without defining a separate paragraph style?

Will the page that already contains the first level header always be the first page in the chapter?

Have you tried defining a <p> style for the image, applying that to the paragraph container, and setting the borders on that?

Re: snippets with tables
In Flare 7, you can't create a snippet that contains a table directly. As you say the option is greyed out. But you can create a snippet without the table then edit the snippet to add the table later on. It's just not quite as nice as being able to do it all in one go.
