I've had an interesting few days as a Flare newbie trying to set up Perforce source control to work with Flare. One of the things that I found was that Flare and Perforce often get out of sync ...

once Flare has frozen, it hangs when re-opened; to open:

Re: Flare 8 locks up doing source control functions
Now, as promised, three things that may cause Flare to lock up (and some tips to avoid them). Also, below, find out why Source Control > Refresh is your friend!
1) In Flare 8, if Flare askes you if you want to build the source control cache, select No. If you select Yes, Flare will hang. Other ...

I have an answer, buried deep in this forum post, which has several useful gems about using Flare with Perforce. :D :D :D :D :D

Re: Flare 8 locks up doing source control functions
I'm in a very similar position. I'm really keen to use source control that is integrated with Flare, because it rapidly gets to be a nightmare if you try to manage the Flare files directly in an revision control system, especialy Perforce. We used to do this with our Robohelp files, and anything ...

Re: Bookmarks and cross references
I've just posted a related question in the General forums. What I'd really like is to be able to specify a style for a table or figure caption that includes an auto-generated bookmark of a format that I specify. I think this may be rather optimistic, but it would be very useful.

Auto-create bookmarks for Xrefs to tables and figures?
I've finally got auto-numbering working as I want for Tables and Figures. Now I need to be able to set cross-references to them. I can do this, but
first I have to set a bookmark on the table or figure caption I want to cross-reference. This is different from adding a cross-reference to a heading ...

Help with page margins
Today's hillock on the the Flare learning curve is page layouts . . .
What does the page margin delimit? Is it really “the amount of space to the left, right, top, or bottom of the body contentâ€, as the documentation says? That is, to they delimit just the area for the body text in the body ...

Re: Is it just me, or is the Spell Check kind of busted?
I'm using version 7, and I see this too. Sometimes mis-spellings aren't flagged and sometimes they are. It seems to depend on how Flare is feeling at the time.
I've not managed to find a sequence of events that causes spelling errors to be flagged or ignored consistently. Like DocuWil, I also keep ...

Applying styles to images - what do I need to know?
I'm a Flare newbie, and in the act of setting up styles to use for my document content.
I've got to images, and it seems that if you insert an image, it is inserted as an , inside a
. I've defined a p.Figure style that allows me to make sure that the image lines up with my text, and that ...

Thanks again. It's obvious now you point it out.
I like your tip for selecting content too. That will be very useful.

Thanks - Lisa's reply is just what I wanted.
I forgot to say, I'm using Flare 7, so I don't have a ribbon yet!

How can I view the style clthat has been applied to my text?
Sorry if this is a really silly or obvious question, or if it's been asked before, but I'm a self-taught Flare newbie and this is driving me mad. :-(
Is there any way that I can easily view the style class that has been applied to my content? Sometimes if I select the content, the style class will ...

Saving and restoring window layouts
I'm a Flare newbie and I've got a project layout I'd like to save for a particular project, so I can restore it each time I open that project. I've tried Windows > Layouts > Save WIndow Layouts as the help suggests. When the project reopens it claims to be using my saved layout, but it isn't.

Is it best to set up global projects at the outset?
Hi there,
I've spent the last couple of weeks getting my head round Flare, and trying to plan the best project structure for our needs. I've still got a lot to learn, but I' think I'm ready to try a "proof-of-concept" using some content that has been crying out to be single sourced.

Re: Cannot see all styles - I want a full Paragraph Catalog!
I'm a Flare newbie too, so I may be talking through the hole in my head, but I too was initially very disappointed to only find paragraph styles shown when I wanted list styles. Then I did a bit of a context shift in my head, since this is HTML after all, and I've worked in Word for years and years ...
