Re: Release notes for 2019 r2?

Hi Choccie Muffin,
I couldn't find any earlier, so I've already pinged support.
The knowledge base only has details of the new features (most of which are irrelevant to me) and no updated release notes.

I'm sure many of us want to check whether any of the outstanding bugs have been fixed before we ...

Re: Pushing a topic to the top of the search rankings

One thing that also affects the ranking of a topic in the search results is the number of links there are to that topic.

I discovered this recently, when trying to work out why a topic was not appearing at the top of the search results, despite having the search term in the title and multiple ...

Re: How to set conditional tags to multiple blocks of the te

Hi Nivanova,
As far as I know, it is not possible to do a multiple selection of rows scattered throughout a table. You could submit a feature request (https://www.madcapsoftware.com/feedback/featurerequest.aspx) to see if the Ctrl key could be adapted to do this.

However, what might make things ...

Re: Find All Related Topics Entries

Hi Shoria,
You could use the Find and Replace in Files tool.
Enter "MadCap:relatedTopics" in the Find field and enable the Find in source code option. Then hit Find All .
You'll then see all the topics that contain this tag in the Find Results tab.

In the toolbar of the Find Results tab, you then ...

Re: No display of the build process

Hi Udo,
Sorry. I hadn't seen your reply.
I can't replicate what you're seeing, I'm afraid and I can't think what else could be causing this.
I guess it's worth contacting support to see if they can reproduce it or advise.

Re: toggling option (not toggler)

Hi Yonit,
I'm not sure whether this webinar on Interactive Wizards might be useful:
https://www.madcapsoftware.com/webinars/interactive-wizards-madcap-flare/

It covers creating a kind of click through tool, to guide users through a process.
Clicking on one option narrows down the set of choices ...

Re: Hyperlink to mid-page bookmark goes to top of page

I've just encountered this bug too. I have a whole lot of options that can be configured and I wanted to link to bookmarks in another topic, so that users could see how each option gets saved in its own section in an output file from our software.
All bookmark links just go to the same place at the ...

Re: No display of the build process

Hi Udo,
Sorry for the delayed reply. I have been away.
I'm scratching my head at this...

Have you done the usual steps of:
1. Closing Flare.
2. Browsing to the folder with your Flare project using Windows Explorer.
3. Deleting the Analyzer and Output folder (or moving the Output folder to a ...

Re: No display of the build process

Hi Udo,
Firstly, can you see the Builds window or is it not shown at all? If you can see the header, but that's all, you may have somehow set the window to Auto Hide .

Secondly, to launch your output automatically when the build finishes, select Tools > Options (or whatever the Ribbon equivalent is ...

Re: Micro Content on Linux

Not super familiar with the Linux VM use case, but in general, whenever I run into these types of issues it's something to do with the way the server is caching files.

Good idea, but I've been completely blowing away the content on the Linux machine, before replacing it each time and still the ...

Re: Micro Content on Linux

Thanks Psider.
I have tried looking at that. I thought it might be the directory name generated by Flare, as that is mixed upper/lower case, but changing that made no difference.
I will delve deeper into which files Flare is using.
The odd thing is that it's not all the micro content items that I've ...

Micro Content on Linux

Hi,
I have been adding a few initial Micro Content items to my main help project.
Apart from one bug that I have already raised with Madcap, it seems to work fine on my Windows machine and on our Apache webservers.

However, I've been testing the output on a Linux VM, by running our software and ...

Re: Navigation buttons not working in Ubuntu/Chrome

One item of weirdness they noticed is that the default toolbar "Previous topic/Next topic" buttons do not work from Ubuntu/Chrome, but on Windows, they do exactly what they should.

Not entirely sure, but as Choccie Muffin says, inspect the source and check what's associated with those buttons ...

How do I change this? Ideally I'd just like a straight list with no headings to break up the entries.

In the Index Proxy dialog, click on the Generate Headings option, specify No and click OK ...

Have now also discovered a bug in Micro Content.

If you create micro content from an existing topic and then within the Micro Content editor select the Response and right-click.
You get the option to Remove Link/Convert to Text .
When you select it, Flare raises an exception.
The response ...

Re: Micro Content wish list

I'm liking the micro-content thing so far. But, I'm already thinking of ways to improve it.

For example, the automatic id that you get when you use "Create Micro Content" from the Home ribbon. I'd like a way to provide a relevant term for the id, rather than it just being "microcontent1 ...

Re: Flare 2019

Just like Adobe, Madcap adds a few little features to justify a new version number, while not attending to long-standing fundamental bugs. Perhaps Madcap should spend less on marketing and fancy international conferences, and more on competent developers willing to get their hands dirty.

Totally ...
