Re: Importing/converting a HTM- toc to a Flair-toc

Hi,
I'm not familiar with Author-It either, but I have just spotted something on the Madcap website that might help:

Author-it® Converter for MadCap Flare FREE

This utility is an XML conversion tool that will use the published XML output from Author-it® and convert it to a MadCap Flare project ...

Re: Suppression of pop-ups in .pdf

Please help me out here, where do I set (or suppress) the popups in the pdf?

Open your PDF target.
Go to the Advanced tab.
You'll see that the Stylesheet medium is set to Print.
Beneath that there is a section called Text popup effects .
You have the option to:
- convert the text popups to ...

Re: Search Results Returning Irrelevant Topics

It's actually worth doing the following:
  • Edit > Find and Replace in Files
  • Enter refundable in the Find field.
  • Enable the Find in Source Code option.
  • And hit Find All.
That will tell you if the word is lurking somewhere within the code of any topics or files.

Re: Search Results Returning Irrelevant Topics

I was also going to suggest checking the Index entries and any meta tags.
Failing that, I don't suppose there is a synonym file set up for the project that is causing this term to appear in the search results...
It would be applied to all targets by default.

Just a quick update on this...
This has been confirmed as a bug in the Side Nav output. I sent an example to Madcap Support and they were also able to replicate it in a simple test project and confirm that this does not happen in versions pre Flare 2018 r2.

Disappointing to move to the new, shiny ...

Link to a bookmark on a page and then hit Back - not working

Hi,
I'm producing HTML Side Nav output, using Flare 2018 r2.
I can't find this specific issue on the forums, so I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same / knows how to get around it...

I've had an issue raised where there are links within a topic to bookmarks further down within the ...

Thanks for your suggestion, seems to make sense when the output is HTML.
Maybe I should have mentioned that the target is a PDF output, so in the output folder there are no seperate files, only the PDF

Re: Generate list of all images used in 1 output (Target)

Well...once you've built your target you'll have your full set of output files for that target.
I don't know how many directories within that output contain image files - whether it's one or more - but you can output a file listing for a directory to a .txt file using the Windows command prompt. A ...

Just another idea...

I had imported some from another project revently and inadvertently ended up with 2 sets of Variables, with a couple of duplicate names in each.

Hi Gerard,
By "Search tips" do you mean the search suggestion text - i.e. "Did you mean {suggestion}?"

If so, it's located in the skin, under the UI Text tab.

Press F12 in your browser and use the inspect tool to examine the HTML/CSS in the header.

However, reinspecting it, I noticed that the <body ...

Re: Any suggestions for creating a workflow-like topic?

Hi,
I've created workflows in Powerpoint before. You can save any slide in Powerpoint as an image file and ten just import that into Flare.
In Powerpoint select File > Save As and then click Save as Type : and choose a format like .png
That way you don't need to create them in Flare.

Hi,
I don't see why you couldn't create a couple of redirect pages in your top level help and add them to the contents.
See this post for details:

Re: Publishing HTML5 output online

HTML5 output will work fine on non-Windows machines. None of our customers use Windows.

So, you should test your output on the relevant platforms, as one thing you might encounter is issues with case-sensitivity.
The output may display fine on your local Windows machine. However, Linux/UNIX ...

Hi Ellis,
That's right.
Then you click on Background and you'll see an Image field.
You can use the down arrow to choose an image file or navigate to a specific image using the Select Image button alongside the field.

Re: WebHelp has index entry I don't want & can't find to del

Hi Diane,
Well, you could try using Find and Replace and select the "Find in source code" option.
If you enter the index keyword tag in the search field - e.g.
<MadCap:keyword term="Other Term:Subterm" />
you can remove it from the topics that way.
