Does anyone know whether this issue has been fixed in V6? We would not want the user to be prompted to update the help viewer, either.
Thanks,
alex

I wrote to MadCap yesterday about the .net issues and received an encouraging response just a few hours later.

Re: Customizing the .Net viewer...
There is now an overload in the HelpViewerEmbeddedClient class that allows you to pass in an string and an icon into the constructor. The string and icon that you pass in are then used in the help form header in place of the Madcap icon and "My Help" string.
Please post how you do this. Thanks!

Re: Customize Help Viewer???
For that one would need the code, which MadCap doesn't provide. I have no idea why they didn't change the viewer, but I guess it is mainly because almost nobody uses it.
Which is because nobody wants the MadCap logo on their help output. It's a vicious cycle, isn't it? This is a decision that I ...

Re: Customize Help Viewer???
I have logged requests for the last few versions... If MadCap doesn't fix it, surely someone out there must be able to figure out a way to work around this. We have some code geniuses lurking around these parts
Come out and help us, please!

Workaround for decimal list alignment limitation in Frame
If you have lists containing more than ten items (and yes, we all know the rule of 7 or fewer, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do...) and want your numbers to align properly on the decimal point instead of on the first number, this information may be of interest to you.

This post is a bit of a piggy-back on this topic, just in case anyone who comes to this thread is also finding the problem I describe below:

Re: how do you right-align numbered list items?
Thanks Lisa! That works great for the online webhelp target, but it's not translating to the Frame output... I did make sure I changed the setting for both the default and print/Frame outputs.
Is this a Flare -> Frame bug or might there be another setting to tweak?
Thanks,

Re: how do you right-align numbered list items?
Thanks. We definitely don't want to have to use tables.
Flare's PDF guides show numbered lists with over 10 items and the numbers don't look like this:
1.
2.
3.
10.
11.
Rather, they look like they should in a print manual (imagine the # is an invisible space):
#1.
#2.
#3.

how do you right-align numbered list items?
We'd like our lists to look better in both the webhelp and FrameMaker outputs. In a list including 10 or more items, how do you force the numbers to right-align so that you have leading space before the single-digit numbers?

I think I experienced what you described, too...

If so, delete that one.

Re: is it possible to display dynamic help for a modal window?
Thanks for your help. They definitely need to keep it as a modal. They did find a way to attach a new instance of the dynamic help pane inside the modal frame, so that helps a lot. Yay for smart programmers who work with help developers!

Re: is it possible to display dynamic help for a modal window?
Ok... so how do I do this? (or what do I ask the developers to try?)
One thing that was brought up was that maybe we wouldn't want the dynamic help pane to display help for the modal since the modal will have the focus and the dynamic help pane would be display-only (which may be confusing or ...

Yes, of course, and everything is scanned; however, certain extensions appear to be automatic showstoppers for us. They never even make it to the scanning stage.

Re: Trouble getting the v3 help viewer to run
Thanks, Lisa. You were correct. Because it is an .msi file, our corporate security policies prohibit me from being able to download the file. Our support department had to download it for me, so something must have happened to it during their download. Someone else with the appropriate credentials ...
