insert a <dl> </dl> block in the XML editor? This is a feature (with the associated <dt> and <dd> tags) that I use extensively, and it breaks the flow to need to switch to code view a few hundred times a day. Have I missed a ribbon control to create the definition list block (because once inside a ...
Please could someone advise where Variable values can be found in the Output of an HTML5 project? We have a help system that is used by two different products and, aside from the name of the product, the help is otherwise identical. It would be hugely useful to be able to inject a different ...
Not sure if this is a Single-Sourcing issue, but gut tells me its not.
Basically, we have 2 products that share the same Help. But my Prod Manager wants the Help to be schemed to the software from which it is called. They don't want to have 2 help files - which would be the easy way for ...
My understanding is that MS decided to write thier own javascript reader rather than pay the licence fee to Mozilla. Except that the MS version doesn't read javascript very well. :-o
So, the only work around is either to write pages specifically for IE11 or force IE11 into compatability mode ...
What I'm trying to get to is how to edit the default*.htm source files before the build. Flare must have a compiler that draws in all the 'bits' that go into a build. ...so am wondering what 'bit' gets read to build the TOC? On a similar note, I include MOW in my build - but want ...
The majority of our end users are IE users, and with the advent of IE11 (and all its 'features' ), I need to insert a meta tag into the Output file. I have already added to my MasterPage - but the build process seems to ignore this? Can anyone advise how to edit the source control ...
Thanks Dave - this isn't the solution. I have Mark of the Web enabled, and I have the Show link ticked in the skin. Everything works fine in a standard browser.
However, in our hosted environment we have a locked-down version of IE that seems to be ignoring the Mark of Web instruction: when opening ...
Please can anyone help? Question relates to HTML5 help.
When opening a CSH topic in our hosted environment, which used a hardened version of IE9, the 'Open topic with navigation' link is missing. This means that that the help cannot be navigated; If you open the help from the home page ...
I am using Flare v8.1. I have a Project consisting of a Parent and several children that are all merged against the Parent TOC. The source files are kept in MS SourceSafe v8.0.
I successfully built a version of HTML5 Help yesterday and passed it into QA. Today I have tried to open the ...
I have also figured out how to structure the links if I decide to keep the subs as merged projects ...basically the hyperlink is based on the naming and structure of the master toc, rather than the file structure (if master_toc is linked to merged ...
Not sure I'm getting the point here? * I re-imported the RH7 master project - setting the skin, css and table css. * I re-imported one of the RH7 child project, copied in the skin etc and set the project html5 properties. * back in the master project i have used your suggestion. i can ...
The two mentioned CSS files are looking for folders which exist at a different level than what the CSS is calling. I have raised this as a bug with Madcap. A workaround is to manually edit the output CSS files and point them to the correct level of the folders.
@Dave Lee: you, sir, are a genius. 8) Thank you - that is exactly what I needed. After changing the images in Styles > Navigation Panel > TOC, everything works perfectly. And yes, it is very confusing - and the otherwise fantastic MCHelp didn't enlighten me on this. @kwag_myers: thank you for your ...
I'm a Flare newbie, but have several years experience with RH. I am on Flare v8.1.2
I am designing the new HTML5 skin, and in the skin editor (Styles > TocEntry) have specified custom images for the OpenBook, ClosedBook, TopicIcon, and MarkAsNewIcon - but these images do not show in the ...
Your reply is pretty much what my gut feeling was. And yes, the app is intended to be quite sleek and is 'gadget' based rather than having traditional 'window'-based topics. I imagine that the help will be quite lean.
In your experience, am I better off using any particular output ...
What about including all the legal names on a boilerplate and use the friendly names within the remainder of the help. A link in the footer can point back to the boilerplate?
Greetings. I have recently swapped to Flare v8 from Robohelp 7. I have over 5 years experience with RH, but am a Flare newbie. I'm not a code developer: my particular geekiness is for words and styles.
My company is working on a greenfield project using Silverlight with a Windows 8 look and feel ...
