Re: Table border (Left)

I had to get the answer from MadCap support, so felt I should share the solution.

The problem was not actually in the TableStyles CSS, but the main Stylesheet CSS. We found the following lines where "padding-left:" had somehow been set to 6.

table.TableStyle-Basic
{
padding-left: 0px;

Re: PDFs - weird spaces in TOC and Text

Hi Nita,

As my Danish wife would say, "Tusend tak!" - which translated means, "a thousand thanks!".

Our project is in the final stages of developing a version of Help to run on the Mac, and this is just one of a series of, should I perhaps say, "Flare design issues" we have hit upon.

Heartfelt ...

PDFs - weird spaces in TOC and Text

I've a head banger here!

First, Word output for the same ToC is fine. The following only affects PDF.

In the ToC of the PDF, spurious spaces are appearing. (I have used underscores to more clearly represent a space)
E_DIT_:(Menu)
VIE_W:(Menu)

In the document itself, these headings appear as they ...

Table border (Left)

Not sure how to add a screen shot from my here.

I'm using a Table Stylesheet. All is well except for the fact that the left hand border appears to be slightly left of the actual left hand side of the table.

This shows up badly as there is a space between the row Separator and the border.

Where ...

Re: Topics with Meta Tags

Just an update here - seems we may have found a bug.

We simply wanted a hard copy report of what Topics contained Meta Tags for proofing.

The resultant output should be:
File name
Meta Tag
File name
Meta Tag
Etc..

However, in all to many instances, the file names are listed, but the Meta Tag ...

Topics with Meta Tags

Flare 2017 R2

Meta Tags are created when a Topic's Properties is given a Description.

Running a Report when only "Topics with Meta Tags" is checked, should then list Topics with the given Description below.

In many cases this is spot on, but is some cases, multiple Descriptions will appear ...

Re: Commits are slow

Hi Dee,

In a way, it's a relief to know I'm not alone. A couple of questions, if I may.

1) Are you using git? FYI, while we are based in Northampton, UK, the main system is in Mass, USA.
2) You say "catch up". Are you seeing your mouse I bar jumping around for a few seconds before you can continue?

Apple Mac Help

With the Mac version of a Windows product close to being ready, we are some what struggling to produce the all important Help side.

Has anyone any experience of, or can point to, informative material on the subject please?

In many ways, I'm surprised that MadCap Flare does not have such a Target ...

Equations - Entering and Editing

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but the end result is for multiple types of output.

I need to display equations in Flare. A lot of these can become quite complex.

Flare's way of doing this is "draconian" to say the very least, as can be seen from their own Help topic on the Subject ...

Search .chm Tips

Flare 2017 R2

Is there a summary of how an end user should use "Search" within a .chm which I can use as a guide?

For example, if I search for either "hard-space" or "hard space" it will display Topic containing either. If I omit the quotes, it will include either word, whether or not the dash ...

Re: Is there a way to get a machine-readable index?

Just following up here. I discussed the issue of Index Maintenance with one of the support team at Madcap - a very useful discussion as it turned out.

I appreciate everyone's situations vary, but for our purpose, it would be ideal to have an facility to produce a hard copy (or even file) of the ...

Commits are slow

Apologies for the vague question here. We are based in the UK, with Flare 2017 R2 linked to a git repository near Boston USA.

Over the last 2-3 weeks, it has been taking much longer to Commit from Flare. For example as a test this morning, I changed an Index entry in 3 very small files, and it took ...

Re: Is there a way to get a machine-readable index?

Considering Madcap extol the virtues and importance of an Index (tell us something we don't know), I very much agree with you that there should be some means of at least reviewing an Index for the entire project. This is not a new request as a search of the Forums will show.

Given that the Index is ...

Last Reviewed Date and by whom

This might perhaps come under the heading of a "New Feature Request", but in case I'm missing something in Flare, here goes.

With software development's updates and changes, it is obviously vital that Help is kept up to date.

Features such as "Variables" for example, can be helpful in this regard ...

View Help while using application

Flare 2017 r2

We would like to be able to view Help as a reference while using the software application.

Currently our applications will certainly allow you to view both side by side on screen, but while Help is displayed, you can no longer do anything in the application itself.

However, with our ...

Re: Togglers - Expand and Collapse controls

Thank you - you are a star!

I did find some oddities, but having been pointed me in the right direction, it was fairly intuitive after that.

I would suggest that such a valuable feature deserves a write up for Flare's web based help to include your instructions.

Thanks again.

I've given up on Flare's Help.

I'd hoped to find a simple solution to expand or collapse all Togglers by clicking on TEXT as opposed to, or even as well as, the miniscule icons shown below.

I wish I could have been at MadWorld, but a little too far from the UK.

I've hunted high and low for "Click me!" on the entire disk drive and failed to come up with anything.

I guess it's going to have to be one for Madcap direct.

Togglers - Change text

The current default text for Togglers is "Click me!

I've hunted Help high and low, but cannot find where one can change the default, which I would like to be "More...".

Can anyone advise please as I have a great number of these to implement.
