Re: Page Numbers instead of Hyperlinks + Word compile failur

Bless you, Nita! You have helped me find a nasty bug.

I have checked the box you advised, but what I really want is local system Help by default. Short of killing wireless and disconnecting the network connection, can this be done?

The "bug" relates to the check box option 2 up from the Help one ...

Many thanks for that. It would be nice if it could be applied by Topic as well, as opposed to the whole Project, but I'm just relieved it's back to normal.

Cheers!

Viewing Images

I hope I'm asking in the correct forum. I've been using Flare almost since day one, so while no expert, I'm not new to it.

I have Flare 11 on my W7 desktop at the office, and W10 laptop at home. I've been using MS OneDrive successfully for a few months to avoid having to copy projects from one ...

Microsoft OneDrive

Does anyone have experience of using Flare 11/12 with Microsoft OneDrive?

I was hoping to use it to avoid having to copy Projects between my office desktop (Windows 7 Pro) and laptop (Windows 10 Pro) and vice versa.

Re: CHM compile has error

I have used a product called HTML QA in the past, not sure if that would be worth taking a look at. Though if you have support, give them a call and see if they can find the problem for you. You will probably have to zip and send your project, but from the few times I've had problems they've been ...

Re: Windows 10 - web page might not be displayed correctly

I took this issue up with Madcap, who appear to claim it's not a Flare issue, but admit their research indicated it was a problem they saw reported on Robohelp forums, though no solution offered.

I'm never quite sure what information to provide, but to explain things more, we have developed a dot ...

I'd very much appreciate some help and advice from anyone who has developed Help systems for both Windows and Mac, and faced problems with fonts.

As a bit of background, the main application is supplied internationally and handles around 140 different languages, although the primary help is in ...

Is it possible to generate a C# compatible Header file from Flare (V11) for a dot net application written in C#?

Re: Glossary - NOT Wanted

Stumbled on it my accident.

Of course it stands to reason that if you don't want a print Glossary, you do NOT look in the Glossary section of the Target's Properties. That might just be too obvious!

It comes under Target's Properties: Advanced section where you uncheck Generate Glossary ...

Glossary - NOT Wanted

Flare V11 - I'm clearly missing the obvious here. I do NOT want a Glossary in certain of my Outputs.

I have unchecked the Glossaries to be used when selecting output, but still get a Glossary in the generated .chm.

Can anyone advise please?

Windows 10 - Fonts problem

We've just been smacked in the face by an unexpected problem with Windows 10.

For what I believed are all the right reasons, we have used Arial Unicode MS as the main font in our project. It has a far wider range of characters available.

However, when the application as a whole was being tested on ...

Keeping Tables on one print page

I'm struggling to find a way of preventing tables being split over 2 pages in both print view and output to Word.

I have a fairly large reference document where most of the 50 odd tables are just under half a page in depth.

However, in cases where the table will not fit completely, I want the ...

Creating and editing videos

My apologies if this is the wrong forum to ask on - I'll be happily re-directed if so.

I'd like to begin including videos with audio in my Flare V10 Project. Essentially this will be simply recordings of the application on screen with voice overlay.

What software do others use which would allow me ...

Re: Graphics and Alt Text (Solution)

I called Madcap, and it is indeed a problem - BUT - only appears to affect *.GIF images.

FYI, in this case I am running Flare 10.1.0 with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and fully up to date.

While Madcap investigate further, and you find yourself unable to edit GIF files in topics, you have two ...

I've answered your questions in [square brackets] below, but what I have established is that I can access, edit and compile the project perfectly well in Flare 9. Since I can continue working for the time being, I shall call Madcap support - at least we do have a support contract.

Re: Graphics and Alt Text

It gets better and better with V10 - NOT!

When I try to access any image, I now get:

"System.Security.SecurityException occurred at [date] [time]
Requested registry access is not allowed."

I've submitted the error to Madcap, but has anyone any ideas on a fix?

Re: Use of Lingo by blind translators

Yes, Nita, indeed it was my sales/support rep who suggest I ask on the Forum.

There are essentially two reasons for asking.

First, is that over the years I have found it much quicker and easier to use keystrokes where practical in applications, rather than scrabble around with the mouse, and Lingo ...

Initial tests suggest that it could be ...

I'm totally new to Lingo, so please forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question here, or if it is staring me in the face.

Where exactly is the "the new Lingo 8 image replacement feature within Lingo"?

I've tried to find information in Help, New Features, etc., etc., and am getting nowhere.

I can't find where in Flare to change this, such that they go into what should I ...
