The optional update to Acrobat and Acrobat Reader posted today on the Adobe Acrobat forums fixes this issue.

Re: Font errors in PDF output
At the top of your "preflight" box, do you have "Prepress, color, and transparency" selected? You won't see the menu if "essentials" or some of the other options are selected.

Re: Font errors in PDF output
Adobe's tech support is the worst. They have pretty good software, but dealing with problems will cause you to tear your hair out. I'm hoping Dov will work with programmers to fix this soon, as this problem is critical.

Re: Font errors in PDF output
I agree that this is primarily an Adobe issue, as Acrobat opened pdfs from Flare fine until recently. However, it does not surprise me that there are minor flaws in font embedding in Flare. Flare is great for about 98% of the creation of documents, but often leaves errors unfixed for years. For ...

Re: font embedding in pdf
I think the issue is with the particular font. I have Adobe CS, so I can use the internet version of Skolar Sans or the purchased version. Both versions work fine in OSX. The internet version works fine in Windows for Flare and Framemaker but the purchased version have problems with the medium and ...

font embedding in pdf
I have an issue with pdf output. Some fonts but not others get embedded. DTL Caspiri and Calibri get embedded, but the Skolar Sans does not - and the pdf substitutes Helvetica in a compressed ugly way. According the the EULA, Skolar Sans should be able to be embedded. It does get embedded from ...

Re: Mad Overkill
Niels: my experience has been similar to yours, but I still love the power of Flare and that it saves in a non proprietary format. Like you, I dropped platinum support, as I was not that impressed with their solving issues. Many bugs and limitations have continued for years ( Framemaker import and ...

Re: Adobe Framemaker required to build output
After all the Madcap advertising over the years about why Flare is better than Framemaker, there probably aren't enough Framemaker users that use Flare to warrant the cost of programmer's time. There are enough bugs to fix, that it isn't likely a priority.

Re: Adobe Framemaker required to build output
This is a shame! There are times that I need to work in Structured Framemaker, and the inability to import or export Framemaker documents is frustrating.

Re: Line spacing in TOC eBook
I got a reply back from tech support that helps create a much better ebook TOC:
to adjust all the line spacing in your ePub output TOC you must find the "MadCap|tocProxy" class in the "styles.css" stylesheet and add the property "line-height:10px"

<a name="xxx"> works well for me in Flare 2019.
I agree with the comments about fixing previous bugs before adding new features. I still get a fair number of crashes, but fortunately, seldom lose work.

Re: Line spacing in TOC eBook
You may be right about display being controlled by iBooks, Kindle, etc. From looking at it in Sigil, it looks like the TOC is literally a table. I just need to find out where that table style definition is located.

Line spacing in TOC eBook
I know it must be simple, but I cannot find the setting in the CSS that controls line spacing or space above, space below in a generated TOC set for eBook target. All settings for TOC are set to zero space above and below, yet it generates like this:

Flare 2019
I'm sorry to see that the epub compressed mimetype error continues in this update. There is also still no way to open a Framemaker 2019 file and the Word export is still to an older version. Still there is no way to rotate text within a table cell. I had hoped a few of these would have been added ...

Re: Cross-References in generated PDF not working
That should work fine. Can you paste some of the code for the crossreference? Do the headings have names? In a recent project I did, all crossreferences were to a bibliography. The bibliography file looked something like this:
<p class="Bibliography" MadCap:autonum="1. "><a name="Randall01"></a ...

Re: side by side graphics and captions without table
Thank you so much! The stacking of <figure> within a paragraph was the problem. I ended up abandoning the plan to have side by side figures and instead am just using test on one side and a figure on the other. It is not as elegant but is much easier to achieve consistency between the pdf and ebook ...

Re: Endnotes and cross references
Thank you. I tried all permutations and combinations and different offsets and couldn't get a perfect alignment for pdf. So I created a second proxy file that uses <li> and </li> and used this as a replacement for the bibliography in the print quality pdf target. Since the original bibliography ...

Re: side by side graphics and captions without table
I found that using <figure> </figure> gives me ePub errors. Do you know what is wrong with the code:
<p class="imgclear">

<figcaption><span class="Red">Step 1</span>: Description of Step 1.</figcaption>

best practices epub target
ePub targets from Flare have lots of issues. Flare's internal analyzer misses a lot of issues that an ePub checker will find, and some of these issues create major problems if you wish to deliver to Amazon Kindle, etc. I wanted to pass on several things that I've found helped me to reduce errors:

Re: Endnotes and cross references
Converting the hyperlinks to crossrefs solved one problem (the problem with lack of autonumbering the hyperlink references) but caused another. Originally the endnotes were all a list within a paragraph, but for crossrefs to work right, I had to put each in its own paragraph and have the p ...

Re: Endnotes and cross references
Thank you very much! The cross references worked much better than hyperlinks for preserving autonumbering. Now they are like Framemaker's or Words endnotes and crossrefs.

Endnotes and cross references
Could you please tell me how to correctly add hyperlink that automatically references the paragraph number in a bibliography (for endnote references and cross references)? What I have been doing is creating a bibliography file that has its own paragraph style with autonumbers.
