Re: Linking Top Nav and Tripane output

David, Nita is correct. I apologize for the misinformation I previously and unintentionally provided.

Option number 1 is still valid though, as you can link fro top-nav to tri-pane.

Re: Linking Top Nav and Tripane output

Hello David.

My response numbers correspond to your question numbers.

1) Yes. In the TOC editor for your top nav, you would display the properties of the entry you want to link from and choose the "select topic" radio button. Then, instead of browsing for the file you would paste the path or web ...

Re: Context-Sensitive Help Look and Feel

Hello mperaro.

The answer to your question is "yes". You need to create an alias file and assign an ID to a particular topic. Then, to achieve what you are asking, ensure that you have assigned the correct skin to the particular ID, and then supply the header file to your developers. Ultimately ...

Re: Re-organizing Tabs (Content, Index, Glossary, etc.)

Hello LvZ.

I don't think reorganizing the left-right order is possible pre-processing. It probably is doable post-processing but who want to meddle with that :?

I assume you're target is HTML5 and you are using an HTML5 skin. What you can do pre-processing is set the **default** tab to the browse ...

Re: Issue with viewing output from the builds explorer

Hello again Dee.

In answer to the question - as depicted in the image you posted - I do not believe you are doing anything wrong :)

You mentioned that you tweaked the skin. What about the target? There is a setting in the target (skin tab) for responsive output breakpoint. It is possible those ...

Re: Unique Topic "ID"

Hi Jim. I have a similar need in that if a reader of the documentation wants or needs to request something, I do provide them with a topic identifier. In my case I use the system file name variable. It displays in the footer of each topic as I've included the variable on the master page. This may ...

Re: Having Skin Problems again!

Hi Dee.

Looks like you're doing things correctly. I wouldn't resort to editing the skin in notepad just yet, although you certainly could do that.

First, while I'm sure you're aware it is worth mentioning that when you change a ** selected ** value in the skin editor, you should click the element ...

Re: Topic file name not appearing when I use [system.title]

Hello BupeSonekaCarbolite.

I'll preface my response by stating I'm not entirely sure what you are wanting to do. Given the thread title "Topic file name not appearing when I use [system.title]", at face value it would appear Flare is behaving correctly.

In the case of the TOC, if you want the file ...

Re: Content Explorer display topic title rather than file na

Hello Jeffrey.

No, its not possible to display the topic title in the content explorer with Flare V12. However, it is possible to display the title using the File List. In doing so, you can achieve essentially the same thing and can also sort (if needed) the File List by whatever column you want. :)

Re: Global Project Linking is no longer working

Hello Shawn. For whatever its worth, I too have found that the status of source is newer is not always accurate. This issue has been the case for quite some time (probably even predating V10). No apparent rhyme or reason. In my case I have enabled/selected the target option of disabling auto sync of ...

Re: Select word using double-click--is this configurable?

Double clicking a word in the text editor does select just the word (no spaces before or after). You could then switch back to the xml editor and apply the style, span, etc.

Re: Search results help?

If practical, promoting the word itself will help with the ranking. For instance, can you add WITH to the title tag and/or make it a heading 1 throughout?

Re: Search results help?

I didn't glean that dilemma initially. In that event, there may be no other alternative than to provide search instructions to the end-user that articulates the fact that searching for "WITH" should be avoided in favor of some other word(s) that you introduce to steer the user to the appropriate ...

Re: Globally update file paths in project topics?

You're welcome. Keep in mind the import is not meant to **move** files from parent to child. It is meant to **copy** them from parent to child. The idea/benefit is that you maintain the files in one place (parent) and then the importer can be used to copy the files into how ever many child projects ...

Have a look at this topic viewtopic.php?f=13&t=27546where I posted some suggestions for the kind of issue you are facing.

So enter:

Hope that helps. :)

Re: How to mitigate time cost of substring search

Hello kevinmcl.

Personally I do not use partial word search, so I cannot say whether or not the performance degradation is "normal". At face value, it would seem logical that the build process would take longer, because the resulting search database would contain more entries.

I have some ...

Re: Globally update file paths in project topics?

mdeanne, you may be going about this incorrectly. :|

That said, I am making certain assumptions based on your labeling of "master" and "child" projects.

When you **update** your child project that references most of these..... what exactly does that mean and how exactly are you updating?

What ...

Hello Scoffey. Welcome to the forum

Re: Unable to build

Hello Henry and Jeanne.

Ordinary (but as you are finding out, not necessarily always) the file listed in the build log directly before the error is the offending file.

Try the following procedure, often suggested by MadCap Tech Support as a "catch all fix" for various issues.

Re: Deleting Flare 12 filestakes an age

Hi George. While I do not use GIT (I use TFS), I've found that historically deletions are problematic in general. :(

What I've found that helps substantially is to perform the deletion from the source control side, not via Flare. I suggest giving that a try.
