Re: XML Editor Compare Feature?
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but try this. in Flare, right-click the topic you want to compare in the Content Explorer, and then select Source Control>Show Differences from the context menu. Flare opens a side-by-side comparison of the XML for file you're editing and the copy last ...

Re: Mini-TOC width
Maybe try setting the minitoc proxy's width rather than the margin. Or, you could also set the width for div.MCMiniTocBox , which is a style class assigned to the container div in the final output).
The margin affects how much space there is between the right edge of the block (div.minitoc, in this ...

Re: Flare 2020 r3 Preview Is Blank
For the record, it appears this was a combination of things. The master page for my primary HTML5 output uses a javascript function that checks for the presence of an auth_token and, if it isn't there, the page does not load. Previous versions of Flare apparently didn't run that script in the ...

Re: Vertical table heads in PDF output
Quick follow-up. I was unable to find access to the transform: rotate attribute in Flare's Style Editor Basic View but it is available in the Advanced View, if you're more comfortable playing with settings via a graphical user interface rather than just plain CSS text.

Re: Vertical table heads in PDF output
How familiar/comfortable are you with CSS? I haven't had time to do more than a cursory look at this, so maybe someone else has a better, or a more detailed suggestion, but have you looked at the transform: rotate( N deg) CSS attribute? It rotates things N degrees counterclockwise. There's a brief ...

Flare 2020 r3 Preview Is Blank [SOLVED]
After updating to Flare 2020 r3, the preview window only displays a blank page for any topic that I try to preview. This is true for both my HTML5 top-nav output and my PDF output.
Has anyone else encountered this? Does anyone know how to fix it, or know a work-around?
Thanks,
-jeff

Re: Having stylesheets that turn on and off chap page breaks
It sounds like these are for print outputs? If so, you should be able to set page breaks in the TOC by choosing the page layout to use for each topic (e.g. new chapter and non-chapter topics). Then, if you need different page breaks for different outputs, you could set up and assign different TOCs ...

Re: Cleaner style suggestion
Another variation on dolormipsum's suggestion might be to keep the single, general warning style as you have it but then edit the specific warning styles to only include changes or additions. Then, for each div that you're styling, apply both the general and the specific styles. The main issue with ...

There are a couple of different ways to do that. One way would be to use snippet conditions.
Create a conditional text condition for each output. You might want to create a separate "Snippet Conditions" condition tag set to keep things organized.

Re: Dropdown Icon Spacing Issue
It looks like MadCap may have a "shadow style class" that applies to the dropdown icon after compile. Try adding the following style class to your CSS and add a margin-left value. For example:
.MCDropDown_Image_Icon {
margin-left: 15px;
} Naturally, substitute your own margin value.

Re: How to add [square brackets] to a style/style editor
In my test, I notice that there might be a small space between the name of the button that I styled and the "]" after. If you find that to be the case, don't worry! You can easily remove the space by adding another line to your span.ButtonName:after style.

Re: How to add [square brackets] to a style/style editor
I don't know if you can add them in the style editor—at least not in the Basic View. And, honestly, its probably more complicated to do in the Advanced view than it is to simply edit the CSS file directly in the text editor. I know it sounds complicated but it really isn't. Here's how you can ...

Re: 2020 r2 CSS Missing
In the meantime, if you can use the web developer tools in a browser (typically by pressing F12) to determine the style class of the image in your output, you may be able to add a line to your CSS to set that style class to display: none; which will effectively remove the image from the output.

Re: Fixed: Flare reformatting my HTML
I'm unclear what the problem is, other than cleaner-looking tabbing. If I understood you correctly, you said the problem happens when there are no <p></p> tags around content in the <li></li> tags? If so, that makes sense.

Re: Remove/Not Use Image on Toggler
Hm, I'm sorry. I'm not sure I know the difference between a toggler and drop-down text. I presumed they were the same thing since you toggle drop-down text to be open or closed and there's typically an image to the left to indicate the state.

I agree with Nita, for most of the same reasons. But, like Nita, I also pay for Platinum support so I don't know what the other tiers (or just "tier," now?) are like. When I call support, someone picks up almost immediatley. I think the longest I've ever waited is about a minute and a half. Usually ...

You can edit the style for MadCap|dropDown in the Stylesheet Editor. In particular, you'll want to edit the following properties, found in the "Unclassified" property group:
mc-closed-image
mc-open-image; and possibly
mc-image-spacing

Are you using an auto-generated TOC for the PDF output? That is, the PDF bookmarks/TOC are not based on the TOC file from Flare? Do you have six levels of headings in the TOC?

Re: Can't specify File name in PDF Output
I'm just making an educated guess here, but the various Heading and Title variables appear to be designed for use within topics (and snippets) within the output. They won't work in a target because there's no relative location for a topic from the target itself. Again, I don't know for certain but ...
