Re: Best, easiest way to set up an appendix?
Thanks. IDK what I did, but now it starts with a number, which it should not because the format is ALPHA. It was generating correctly except for the lack of spacing between the colon and the text. All I did was test to see if pressing the space bar a couple of times would work. Now, it's 9. You know ...

Best, easiest way to set up an appendix?
Our documentation deliverables do not currently have appendixes, but we want to add one to a guide.
What I've done so far...
~ Created h1.Appendix heading style with [chapnumber], and while I have it incrementing correctly, it does not place two spaces after the colon.Example: Appendix A:Text Here ...

Re: Guide name not showing in footer...variable the issue?
I toyed with that idea, but wasn't sure. I could have tested it, but the variables don't always play nicely. I tested it, and it worked perfectly! After WEEKS of agonizing over this, I just knew it had to do with a variable. :) The odd thing is that in the targets for the other guides, the Variable ...

Re: Guide name not showing in footer...variable the issue?
Personally, I think it's more to do with my using a "Save as" to copy and rename an existing page layout. Additionally, when building a target, the Master Page Layout that we select is the individual guide page layout.

Re: Variable not picking up name of new doc in footer
Yes. It works fine in all other documents. I've compared all targets, and this is the only one that will not pick up the name of the document.

Re: Variable not picking up name of new doc in footer
There is room. The title of the new document is smaller than others. Thanks!
Your variable may be fine, but you may not have given it enough room to be displayed in the page layout. Make sure that your footer frame is tall enough and wide enough to display the entire value of the variable. I'm not ...

Re: Draft Page Layout image not showing
Yes, I've worked with PDFs for years and have done what you described. At this time, we do not have a license for Adobe Acrobat Pro, which is what I need. Still waiting for it.

Variable not picking up name of new doc in footer
One master page for all, which includes the breadcrumbs proxy, topic body proxy, and then a footer with a variable of AdminGuide: Administration Guide and a page number. This master page is applied to all of the guides and as far as I'm concerned handles "the pretty." Next, we have page layouts for ...

Re: Draft Page Layout image not showing
Yes, we have multiple page layouts. I'm working on streamlining things, which will take awhile. However, I'll see what I can come up with by using your suggestions. In other words, I'll play around with things to see what happens. When I find a viable solution that is manageable, I'll post it here ...

Re: Draft Page Layout image not showing
I think I answered my own question. It seems there is a hierarchy where MCF looks at the TOC first, and then the topics. This is according to the note in the Help content. What a pain to have to change ALL of those in the TOC just to get a one-time DRAFT output.

Draft Page Layout image not showing
I created a DRAFT page layout with an image (transparent barckground) of the word DRAFT. This image is not showing at all on the PDF output. How can I get the DRAFT image to show through but not block out any text or other body content?
Thanks in advance.

Re: How to increase/decrease line spacing
Both. Thx for the F5 hint. I inherited what we have from the previous writer, and I would have most definitely done some things differently. We have a global project, and I've updated the styles in there. Just hoping that they don't get overriden or re-imported and revert to what we had previously ...

Re: How to increase/decrease line spacing
I updated the CSS from the External Editor, which is my preferred way. No luck; nothing changed in the source files or the output files.
I updated using the Style Editor in Simplified View, making sure all Mediums were correct. Finally!
Thank you!

ProductVersion variable not updating on cover page
I have a cover_page.htm in the Common folder for a project. No condition tags exist on the cover. In this cover_page.htm file, there are two variables: ProductName and ProductVersion. I have no idea from where the values originate. It doesn't appear to be a file name or anything else identifiable ...

New Target to WORD: What am I missing here?
I want to build a new target for Output Type Word. In the Ribbon, I select New > Target. In the Add File window, it asks to select from a new or existing template. p.Note style not showing in snippet after insert
We have snippets that use styles. When I insert the snippet, the note content imports, but the NOTE does not.
Example snippet before insert:
NOTE : [text here]
Example snippet after insert:
[text here]
The word NOTE is missing in the snippet. Does anyone have an idea as to why this happens?
