bypass spell-check in right-click on hyperlink

As we know, there are multiple ways to perform most tasks in Flare.
Take editing a hyperlink...
[Ctrl][k] works, if that's the way you swing.
Mousing to the "Insert" menu and selecting "Hyperlink" also works.
But why is there the option of a right-click menu that includes "Edit Link" if it works ...

Re: Can't paste a list

I selected a three-row (plus heading row) table in my source project, using the vertical "table" bar on the left side of the editor.
I did [Ctrl][c].

I selected a five-row (plus heading row) table in my target project, using the vertical "table" bar on the left side of the editor.
I did [Ctrl][v ...

Can't paste a list

Flare 7.2 on Win XP Pro

Two instances of Flare open. Two projects. Two topics (explaining the same feature in the two products).
One has newer versions of some features, with updated explanations.
Other project needs some (not all) topics updated with similar or identical newness.

"Source" topic ...

Re: first underscore "stacked" in open topic list

Perhaps the difference is the Windows version. I'm still on XP.

Anyway, it's not overtly a big problem, just a curiosity.

... except... when I see things go wonky, I always wonder what's attached to them and is also going wonky down in the basement where the Morlocks work....

first underscore "stacked" in open topic list

I use all lowercase naming in my Flare projects, and I use underscore and dash characters to separate words in those filenames.

When I have more than three or four topics open, Flare displays some and keeps others ready with a drop-down list on the tab bar of the WYSIWYSG editor. When I click to ...

Re: Updating graphics in Flare

So, to add to what Lisa already said:

If your new graphic source files are already identical in dimensions to the old ones, you should have no problem,
but if (say) new screen-captures have captured slightly different-proportioned areas than the originals, then you might find that the replacements ...

Re: A strange SAVE error

Mine was choking on some characters that had been in my help since Flare v1.1, but it only started the silly surrogate pair error a couple of months ago.

The new techwriter tracked it down, since he encountered the problem the first time he tried to publish his update of one of my help projects ...

Right-click to create a link

Could someone please explain the logic?

If I have a sentence in which I right-click a word - oh... say... "verify", I get a pop-up menu, of which the fourth action is "Hyperlink". I use that a lot on words and phrases. I already have the mouse pointer right there, so why not just right-click?

If I ...

Re: Want paragraphs to have same look in printed as in WebHelp

Steve,

Those were good discussions on how to make Notes look the way you want them in Help, but I've already got that... and better.

My problem was having it come out in Print output, to look the same as it does in Help (specifically WebHelp).

So I think Nickatwork has the right idea.
Come to ...

Want paragraphs to have same look in printed as in WebHelp

Been doing WebHelp only.
I haven't tried printed output for years. Somebody asked.
I created a new ToC with all the same content.
I created a print-only target and publish destination - MS Word, and published.

In the WYSIWYSG editor AND in the WebHelp output, my notes and cautions and warnings ...

Re: Do multiple instances of Flare co-exist peacefully?

OK, thanks everyone.

I just wanted assurance that it's a legit thing to do, so next time something fishy happens, and I describe it, people don't say: "Oh, well, no WONDER you had problems with two (or three or...) instances open." :-)

Do multiple instances of Flare co-exist peacefully?

I recall, with previous Flare versions, that having more than a single instance of Flare open at any one time was risky.
So I've avoided doing it. But if it's allowed and safe, then it's useful sometimes.

Are we supposed to be able to run two (or more) projects at one time on a computer?

It's ...

Re: Find everywhere that a style is applied in a project

I have them both accordioned to the right of my WYSIWYSG pane all the time, along with Styles and (the rarely helpful) Dynamic Help.

One thing that I prefer about Find in Files (when it finds what I'm looking for...) is that it outputs a list, whereas Find and Replace simply opens one topic at a ...

Re: Find everywhere that a style is applied in a project

Yes, different.

When I previously tried "note" by itself, (no quotation marks) I was still using the "Find in Files" dialog (which still doesn't do the trick).

Having now tried that in the "Find and Replace"............ it works.

I think I'd better give myself tomorrow off.
Not as a reward, as ...

I wasn't using Find and Replace.

I was using Find in Files

the search terminates with no hits in about a second... suggesting that it didn't
look anywhere except the current page, if there...

Re: Find everywhere that a style is applied in a project

I just tried [ p class="note" ]
(without the square brackets... that was just to indicate the field in this message)
as the search term in the Find in Files dialog.

No hits.

There are at least five hundred in my project.

Find everywhere that a style is applied in a project

Previously, I would use p.note style for Notes, Cautions, and Warnings in my WebHelp.
Then I would insert a notepad icon, a Caution triangle with an exclamation point, or a Caution triangle with a lightning bolt to the left of the text (within the page margins) as appropriate to the severity of the ...

Re: Right-adjust (or tab) a graphic in heading

First, I'm not sure that's a valid style name. I don't think you can have periods in class names because the period is a reserved character to designate a class. You can use underscores, so you could have p.notepad_note, but I don't think p.notepad.note is valid CSS code.

Sorry. I /m/i/s/s/p/o/k ...

I think this is pretty-much the same requirement... but I'm stuck for the moment.
I have a style p.notepad.note.

I can set it to have the desired font, text color, background color for text (pale gray) and a 3-pixel line around the paragraph with a gap (padding?) between the border line and the ...

Flare 7.0.1 on Win XP Pro.

So I've got some snippets.
I'm placing them in topics

Sometimes, Flare places a snippet, all nicely formatted, in an empty para (<p+></p> as:

Other times, it'll places the same snippet, but as a ...

WebHelp & browsers - separately moving targets?

Is the following a correct summary?

Early 2010, Google implements a security fix in Chrome that breaks Chrome for Webhelp - current WebHelp, and WebHelp all the way back.
Mid 2010, Google admits that they made the problem. All through 2010, no sign that Google will address the problem.
Other ...
