Re: Loads of white space in the middle of a table

This is hard to diagnose without looking at the code. Have you tried opening up developer tools in your browser to inspect the CSS to see what's going on?

As far as the horizontal scroll on every page, my best guess is that you have width or min-width property set on a container div somewhere. The ...

Re: Controlling lists with Autonumbering vs. Complex Selecto

Hi Wendy. I think you're going to have a hard time finding a definitive answer to this question. I've been in heated discussions with other Flare users over which of these two methods is preferable. I think everyone recognizes that each of them has pros and cons.

My preference is to use properly ...

I just-reread your original post, and I noticed that you said these were drop-downs (I just jumped right to the screenshot). Not sure if what I posted applies to drop-downs or not. I'd have to test it.

Re: Drop-down text indent

I have to respectfully disagree with what support told you. It's true that the text-indent property applies only to the first line of text, but you can achieve what you're looking for by setting your arrow as a background image and then adding padding-left. Your css would look something like this ...

I know a lot of Flare users who want to be able to insert a topic more than once in a TOC without it messing up the navigation and bread crumbs in the HTML output. Consider opening a feature request to add your voice to the list: https://www.madcapsoftware.com/feedback ... quest.aspx

Re: X-refs: Sensible numbering of tables and figures?

It sounds like you're missing the "Global" series label in the mc-auto-number-format for your HTML output. By default, Flare restarts autonumbering at every topic unless you specify otherwise in the stylesheet. Using a series label, you can instruct flare to restart autonumbering at the chapter ...

Re: Changing a pagelayout from the CSS

I'm not sure if I'm following your question exactly, but what it seems like you're trying to do is apply a different Page Layout to certain topics in your TOC. You can choose which page layout any given TOC entry uses in the Properties dialog for that TOC entry.

Open your TOC, right click the ...

Re: Build time web based outputs

For online outputs, Flare includes all the files that TOC files link to, even if those files aren't included in the TOC. So if you have a topic in the TOC that links to a topic that is not in the TOC, that second topic will be built and included in the output (even though it won't show in the TOC of ...

Re: How to.... create segment of text in XML format

Hi Erik,

It sounds like you might be looking for a syntax highlighter. Syntax highlighters automatically highlight code samples to make them more readable. My preferred syntax highlighter is called prismjs. It's just some css and js that you stick in your Flare project. You can then apply a style ...

Re: Build time web based outputs

Hi Deepti,

By default, all topics in your Content Explorer get built when you build your online target, regardless of what is in the TOC. It's a common (yet understandable) misconception that online targets build only what is in the TOC. If you were to open your output folder and look at the output ...

Re: Adjust position of navigation panel pullout?

If I'm understanding your question right, you're looking for a way to change the vertical position of the "hamburger" icon that pulls out the menu, right? I don't think there is a way to adjust the position of this icon in the skin editor, but you can do it directly in your stylesheet.

It looks ...

Re: Change page layout of project of 7x9 to 8_5X11

Open your page layout, and in the local toolbar, click the Page Properties icon (looks like a page with a tiny gear on it). On the General tab of the Page Properties, you can select the Page size.

Does that answer your question?

Re: Is there a way to get a pure XML output?

I don't know of a way to combine multiple topics into one single output file.

As far as removing style tags, using the a DITA target will do that. For example, all of your <p class="Note"> will show up in your DITA output as just <p>.

If you want to get even more detailed, you can actually use ...

Re: Ctrl-; is NOT interrupting list formatting

With your cursor in the list item, try pressing Ctrl + ; before pressing Enter. This adds a paragraph tag within the list item. When you press Enter now, it should add another paragraph tag within the list item, which will preserve the indenting under the list item. When you're ready to start your ...

Re: How to automatically resize image to 100% margin width?

One way to accomplish this is to set the max-width property on the images in the stylesheet in Flare. In the code view, it would look something like this:

@media print
{
img
{
max-width: 70%;
}
}

This setting will constrain all images to take up only 70% of the total width available to the ...

Re: Snippet for a row in a table

A possible alternative to the method that Paul described above would be to create snippets for the content for each cell of a row rather than a snippet for an entire row itself. It results in a lot more snippets, but it would work. In this case, you would build the entire table structure in the ...

Re: Conditions with images in numbered lists (spacing issue)

OK, we might not be able to fully diagnose this problem without looking at your code. I did notice one thing in your screenshot though. I see that steps 3 and 4 are actually in separate ol tags. So your structure probably looks like this:

<ol start="3">
<li>Step 3 content</li>

Re: Conditions with images in numbered lists (spacing issue)

The issue here is the soft return. When you do the soft return, it adds a line break in your HTML code (<br />). Because your condition tag is on the image itself, it's not excluding the line break from any of your outputs, and it's the line break that's causing the double spacing you're seeing.

My ...

Re: Master Page question

One way to do this is to create two masterpages: One for your topics that need the snippets, and one for your topics that don't. From there, you can assign which topics should use which masterpage.

First, create the masterpages that you need. Then, open your stylesheet, and create two new classes ...

Yes, it is possible. Open the color picker dialog, click the saved color you want to delete, and press the delete key on your keyboard.
