Excluding Topics from Printed TOC?

I'm outputting to PDF and using v9 of Flare.

I have a TOC built for PDF output. One of the topics is a title page. After the title page, I have the printed TOC topic (with the TOC proxy), followed by other topics that make up the actual documentation.

Whenever I build and view/publish the output ...

Re: How to Get Transparent Images?

Well. That's odd, but I figured out how to resolve my issue. It has nothing to do with the stylesheet, as I originally thought.

Resizing the image is the problem. That doesn't seem right to me, but when I resize it and build a web-based output, the transparency is lost in the png. In print outputs ...

How to Get Transparent Images?

Hello,

I am working with Flare v9, and I'm having issues with transparent images.

I have an image that is a .png with a transparent background. In print output, the transparency works. However, in the HTML5 output, the image is no longer transparent.

Is there something I can change in the ...

Re: How do I edit Glossary terms appearance in HTML5 output?

Hello Niall,

You can change the style of the glossary terms as you add them to the glossary. When adding a term, click the Style tab. From there, you can select Expanding, Hyperlink, or Popup. Expanding is what I like to use b/c it does as you mentioned. It stays and doesn't collapse until a user ...

Have you tried editing the Glossary styles in the Dynamic Effects Styles section of your main stylesheet?

Re: Formatting Navigation Panel Links in Skins

Tom,

Those weren't exactly what I wanted at first, but I've discovered after tweaking those attributes again, that it does indeed look better than my original idea. Thanks for your help! I appreciate all the replies.

Re: Formatting Navigation Panel Links in Skins

Tom,

I have tried editing both stylesheets with no luck. In the HTML5 skin stylesheet, when I try editing the Navigation Link/Panel styles, it only seems to change the unlinked books. It doesn't appear to be changing the active book and topic links. Have you gotten it to work? If yes, which styles ...

Formatting Navigation Panel Links in Skins

Hello,

I am working in Flare V9 in an HTML5 skin.

I want to format the links in the navigation panel, but no matter what I change, it doesn't seem to edit the right links. Can someone please tell me which attributes to edit?

Example: Links are blue, but I want them to be a different color. Same ...

Re: IndexLinkSet Sort As feature not sorting correctly

Hm. It seems whatever the issue was has been resolved. It appears to be sorting as it should now.

It wasn't just the "." that wasn't cooperating. I'd entered a few other test entries, and none of them sorted correctly either. I didn't change anything, that I'm aware of. The only things I'd ...

Re: Expanding Header for Two Column Page Layout

Resolved, so posting resolution here in case it might help someone else.

To create headings or pieces of text that span across the page instead of fitting into columns, there must be more than one body frame created within the page layout. Adjust the flow between the body frames so that the content ...

Re: SeeLink Xref

Hello,

The only thing I can think of is to remove the "See" from the xref altogether and type it as needed, applying the different colors/styles to the words as needed.

For example, when you open the cross-reference window, in the bottom corner you can edit your xref styles. When you highlight a ...

IndexLinkSet Sort As feature not sorting correctly

Hello,

I am working in Flare V9, trying to use the IndexLinkSet Sort As feature.

I have an index entry beginning with a period (Example: .csv files). I would like to sort it as "csv files" and ignore the period. For some reason, I cannot get this feature to work.

So far, I have created an entry ...

Expanding Header for Two Column Page Layout

Hello,

I am working in Flare V9.
I am working with Page Layouts, specifically the IndexResizable.flpgl template.

I want the Index to contain 2 columns. However, I want the topic title ("Index") to span across the page instead of fit into the two-column layout. I understand I will need to have 2 ...

Re: editing styles for glossary proxy

Figured it out!

In the master stylesheet, I switched to Advanced View. Then, I opened the MadCap|glossaryProxy, MadCap|indexProxy, and MapCap|tocProxy. I set each border > border-top-style to "none," and this removed that border line.

Thanks!

Re: editing styles for glossary proxy

Thank you for the quick reply.

When I remove the div.GlossaryPageHeading border, I actually get the second output where the border under the C is actually removed instead of that middle border. There currently is no border set for the div.GlossaryPageTerm tag.

Re: editing styles for glossary proxy

Hello,

I have a question regarding editing the style for the Glossary proxy (and the TOC and Index ones, for that matter). I am working in Flare V9 in a print (PDF) output.

How do I edit the titles for these proxies? Whenever I build the output, there are extra border lines under the titles and at ...

LTinker68 and ChoccieMuffin, thank you both so much for the quick responses.

LTinker68, the number did appear in the output, yes.

I didn't find one method particularly easier than the other, so I suppose it's ...

Inserting Tables in Lists

Hello,

I am working in Flare V9.
I am working with topics, lists, and tables.

I have inserted a list into a topic. Normally, to enter a short note directly after the step, I hit Shift+Enter to move to the next line to prevent the inserted content from becoming part of the list. Instead, it becomes ...

* I am working in a Page Layout.
