Am trying to edit the header and footer in a layout file.

The first works fine.

BUT if I then rightclick on the footer and select Edit Text, the _header_ is again displayed. The header of the window displays the text "Frame Contents: default.flpgl (Page: Normal, Frame: footer).

Updating cross-references in a file, I get the error:

"Failed to update 1 of the selected cross-references"

All of a sudden, when I run Flare 9 on Windows 7 64-bit as usual, the splash screen is displayed but then no application window appears, and there's nothing minimised in the taskbar. However, flare.exe _is_ in my process list.

EDIT: I found the issue - it's a conflict with the app 7zip. The problem ...

It turns out that it is Flare itself which is making the XML unreadable. I copied the XML sources to Notepad++ and applied an XML tidyup plugin. The result is neatly formatted; eg:

Occasionally the source code of my files is concatenated into one unreadable blocks. Does anyone have any tips for automatically formating the XML source to make it human-readable? (I tried XML tools in Notepad++ with no luck).

I eventually found a workaround for this; I can't turn on or off the check boxes with the cursor, but I can if I (a) hover the cursor over the checkbox and then (b) press SPACE. Very bizarre behaviour but at least this works.

The skins shown on the webpage you cite are all Tripane skins. Are you trying to create Tripane output or Top Nav output?

I believe the reason is that we have both version tags _and_ client specific conditional tags. So if text is tagged, say, "Version4" and "Client1", it should only be included if _both_ of those conditions are satisfied, not just one. If my target has "include 4", then I believe such text would be ...

(If I tag a single screenshot with all three versions, it doesn't work as all three versions need to be fulfilled - that is, the conditions are ANDed together).

Say you tag the same screenshot with conditions for version 2, 3 and 4.
Then in the version 4 target, set its conditions to exclude 2 ...

Your screenshot differs from mine - no individual checkboxes are shown for each file. Turning the only checkbox there on and off has no effect since I guess it is meant to turn on and off my missing checkboxes.
