Re: Artificial Intelligence for style guide compliance
Thanks. That'll be a partial solution if I can get it to work, and "learn how to Python" is on my list of things to do. Though It's getting farther and farther from the top of the list...

Artificial Intelligence for style guide compliance
Last year at MadWorld, we saw a presentation about using AI Assist in MadCap Central to edit topics. (https://documentation.madcapsoftware.com/central/Content/Central/Projects/Step2-Authoring/AI-Assist/AI-Assist.htm) It looked neat, except we can't use the feature because of intellectual property ...

Re: Single ToC, multiple PDF outputs
I can think of a couple of different ways to handle this:
If it's feasible, make one page layout file, but use some combination of condition tags and variables so that layout will be rendered a little differently in the different outputs. For example, you might include alternate condition-tagged ...

Re: Full Width Hero
I don't know if it's the best possible solution, but I define the max-widths in the stylesheet at the level of the elements that are expected to be children of the <body> tag, such as paragraphs, divs, headings, and tables. This way, if I want to have a different max-width for something, such as a ...

Thanks Nita. Well, at least now I don't have to feel silly about not being able to find the super simple way.

Deleting everything with a specific condition tag
Is there a really simple way to just permanently delete anything marked with a given condition tag from a Flare project?

Re: No support for video subtitles track?
What we do is host the videos elsewhere and then embed them in Flare content. The video hosting site we use (Vidyard) is nicely set up for subtitling videos. It even has some pretty decent automated voice recognition that does a first pass at subtitles for you. Vidyard isn't free, but if that's an ...

Re: What is a div for and how does it differ from a span?
We used to use divs for notes, tips, and cautions. However one thing I discovered several years ago about divs in Flare was that in PDF outputs, the rules about where page breaks belong (mainly widows and orphans rules) went out the window inside divs. We ended up with a bunch of pages containing ...

I'd been finding the stylesheet editor - particularly entering comments about styles - to be painfully slow, particularly with longer stylesheets, before I installed Flare 2022.

Anyone using Acrolinx or similar?
Another department in our organization is looking at maybe getting Acrolinx to help folks to use a consistent tone and stick to the approved terms for things, and they reached out to the tech writers to see if we had any experience with it or a similar tool. We don't. But Acrolinx claims to ...

Re: Import from Confluence not working for large spaces
The first version that they released had a bug where it would only retrieve content from a limited number of spaces, but I thought that was fixed in later versions, or at least if you contact Madcap, they can give you something that will fix it.

Is there a way to permanently turn off Expand/Collapse?
As far as I can tell, it's possible to turn off expand/collapse indicators on a topic that I am editing, but as soon as I switch to another topic or close and open the topic, they're back.
Is there some obscure way to turn them off permanently for all topics, by any chance?

How to give responsive layout divs uniform height?
I'm tinkering with responsive divs on a landing page. What I want to do is have a row of divs that are all the same height, even though they contain different amount of text. I'm envisioning the parent div having whatever height it needs to have to contain the child div with the most text at ...

Global setting that converts SVGs to PNG in output?
Is there some kind of global setting that would cause SVG graphics in a project to get convered to PNGs when targets are built? When I build my projects, the SVGs stay SVGs (as they should) in the HTML5 tripane output. However, on the system that runs automated nightly builds using the same source ...

Re: Applying Flare table stylesheets to tables imported fr W
Open the table style you want to use, as though you were going to make changes to the style.
Right at the top of the table style tab, there's a little inconspicuous button that says "Apply Style..." Click it. The box that pops up is fairly self-explanatory, I think, in terms of what it does.
