Re: Meaning of Build error 10086 One or more errors occurred
In general, keep the folder structure as flat as possible. When following DITA, there is no need to have more than a folder for a functional area/feature and if needed folders for the task, concept, and reference topics that apply to that area. Sure, depending on how long the folder names are the ...

Where did you put the semicolon? Just because one is claimed to be missing does not mean it needs to go right after the equal sign.

Re: Rotate an image
I can also dig up some PHP code that rotates images on the fly based on settings stored in a database. I used that for a photo viewer web app years back where I had image files that needed to be rotated left 90°, right 90°, 180°, or not at all.

When you post or post a response you can check below the text field in the Options tab the option "Notify me when a reply is posted". That should be available for regular forum users and send you a notification assuming you provided an email address.

Re: Keeping formatting when pasting text to text editor
I understand the aggravation, but HTML5 does not know anything about tabs and tabstops. Indentation requires either styles or non-breaking spaces.
Depending on how many indentation levels are needed, adding styles might be the way to go (see https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_text_text-indent.asp ...

Re: matching docs to company fonts - thoughts?
Having things look as if they come from the same place has its value, but similar is close enough. I guarantee you that not a single customer will drop your product because the sales cut sheet uses "Via Modern Seque Condensed" and help uses "Via Traditional Condensed" (I made up font names). In case ...

Re: New Flare releases about a week apart
Those release are maintenance releases with bug fixes. If your current version works fine for you then I see no need to update. That said, this is commonplace these days. Every checked how often mobile apps or Chrome get updated? If they do not see an update within two weeks they are considered ...

I think the link to the stylesheet is malformed. Needs to look like this:
<link rel = "stylesheet"
type = "text/css"
href = "myStyle.css" />
Add the name of the stylesheet you want to reference and then it ought to be fine.

Seconding what Dave wrote. I know for sure that <br> won't validate.
Check with https://validator.w3.org/ . Using the direct input tab allows for pasting in the page source. Will tell you exactly what is wrong where and why.

What errors does it produce? Does the HTML you use pass W3C validation? If not, then it's not the editor's fault.

Re: Stop the internal text editor replacing spaces with tabs
Are you sure it replaces it with tabs as in tab character rather than indentation? Unless things changed recently, HTML and with that XML cannot work with the tab character. Using spaces for formatting only works when you use monospace fonts. Browsers typically display pre and code tagged content in ...

Re: Stop auto-checking for updates?
If you add a shortcut yourself the installer/uninstaller has no clue that it exists. I'd object to an installer modifying files that I created. Did you have the previous version uninstalled when you encountered the recurring update notice? If not, I am sure the link did not start Flare 2018. In that ...

I'd send the reports to MadCap, ultimately they need to fix most of the issues. There is also a difference between errors, warnings, and to be deprecated items. Obviously, focus on errors first.

Re: HTML5 "Nu Validator"
Nu Validator is a good tool. I use it frequently. The validator checks for complete compliance against the HTML5 standard. While we all should strive for 100% compliance, it is a wasted effort. There is not a single browser available today that is 100% compliant with the standard, see e.g. https ...
